Debut Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi

Astram is a playable unit appearing in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi, as well as the remakes Monshou no Nazo and Shadow Dragon.

Background

Book One

Astram was one of Archanea's most skilled knights, as well as being the lover of fellow knight Midia. During the War of Darkness, he was forced to fight under the Dolhr Empire as they held Midia prisoner. However in Chapter 13 (or Chapter 11 in the SNES version) Midia could speak with him at which point he would switch sides to Marth's army seeing that his lover was no longer Dolhr's prisoner, apologizing for leaving her alone. He also had a special conversation with Boah in which they discussed Archanea's future. Astram offered no opinion on a future king, saying that as a knight he intended to serve his kingdom regardless of how it might change. After the war ended, he became captain of Archanea's free company. Astram was also entrusted with the sword Mercurius, which made him more well-known.

Book Two

Three years later, Astram's free company was deployed to hunt down Marth and his army, with Astram and his men appearing as enemy units in Chapters 7, 8 and 9. In Chapter 16 he was once more sent after Marth, but this time Jeorge could talk to him. Astram initially refused to stand down as he worked for Archanea and Nyna, although he did not mind Hardin as much. Astram had been told that Nyna had fallen ill and could not see him, but when he learned that Marth had the Fire Emblem, Astram took that as a sign that Nyna had placed her faith in Marth, so he switched sides to fight for Marth's side once more. After the war ended, he joined with Archanea's free knights to serve his people and finally married Midia not long afterwards.

Trivia

  • In Monshou no Nazo he receives a Bonus Support from Midia, and in Shadow Dragon he receives Support bonuses from Midia and Boah.
