Typhlosion is the third and ultimate evolved form of second generation fire-type starter Pokémon, Cyndaquil. It evolves from Quilava at Level 36.
Information
Typlosion is larger and stands on its hind legs, having only a mane of flames around the back of its neck. When the heat of its body simmers the air around it, Typhlosion is said to be ready for battle. It also becomes hot enough that anything it touches is set on fire when its rage peaks. It also uses its intensely hot flames to create a shimmering heat haze that hides it. Typhlosion creates blazing explosive blasts that can burn anything into cinders. It also has a secret move that causes huge explosions by rubbing its fur together.
Appearances
Mainstream Games
Quilava can only be obtained through evolution in all color versions.
Other Games
In Pokémon Trozei!, it can be found at Endless Level 52, Forever Level 2, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. It can only be obtained by evolving Quilava in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, but in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Time, it is found at the sixth through fourteenth basement floors of Dark Crater Pit. It can also be found at the Lyra Forest in Pokémon Ranger. Typhlosion also appears in Pokémon Ranger: Locus of Light at Talga's House and the Flame Temple.
Other Appearances
- In the Pokémon anime, Typhlosion have made occasional appearances since the Johto arc. The most notable one appearing is one owned by Jimmy (the character based on Gold), which evolved from his starter Pokémon and is featured as Jimmy's main Pokémon in the special episodes which he appears in.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Gold's Quilava (as well as the second stage starter Pokémon of his companions) evolves into a Typhlosion while defending him from Lugia. It then remains as one of the most invaluable and often-used Pokémon of Gold's team.
Trivia
- Its name is a combination of "typhoon" and "explosion".
