The Miniblins are a species of creatures closely related to the Moblin, only much smaller.
Information
A very tiny relative of the much large Moblin. In appearance, Miniblins bear a certain resemblance to Satyrs of Greek mythology. They have a hoofed underside with a tail, while the top half is bare. They have strange markings on their face and horns as well. Miniblins are simple-minded creatures that attack in great numbers. They are easy to detect when approaching due to their distinct 'da-dunk' sound they make. They are easily defeated, but travel in such large groups that they become unwieldy to deal with.
Miniblins in particular infested Forsaken Fortress and some submarines. Miniblins also infested parts of Outset Island as well. They were capable of climbing up walls and attacking in large numbers. They wielded pitchforks and, unlike other enemies, would not drop them. Link was able to distract them by dropping All-Purpose Bait, which they would quickly swarm to for the chance at food.
Link encountered more in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass where they served under Bellum. These variants were less colorful, but tended to be a tad smarter as they did not blindly attack in swarms. On the open sea there were also a seafaring breed that had fins rather than horns on their head. They sailed in heavily armed pirate ships and boarded anyone unfortunate enough to get near them.
Miniblins also appeared as pirates in Spirit Tracks, where the pirate group that terrorized the Ocean Realm consisted primarily of Miniblins, while being led by new monstrous creatures known as Big Blins. Some Miniblins also appear in the Tower of Spirits, where they ride Armos-like mounts, being nearly invincible unless Link is able to reach a proper altitude to knock them off their mounts (or if a Wrecker Phantom possessed by Zelda can destroy the Armos).
Trivia
- Their name is derived from the common Zelda enemy 'Moblin', which gets its name from Goblin. 'Mini', quite simply, refers to their smaller size.
