Debut | The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past |
The Cane of Byrna (also known as the Staff of Byrna) is a magical cane that was featured in A Link to the Past.
Information
This Cane of Byrna is a blue cane that will create a magical barrier around Link when swung. This offers Link protection from all attacks, but it drains magical energy as long as it is used. In A Link to the Past, it was found within a cave in Death Mountain that was filled with spikes. The player has no choice but to cross the spikes unless possessing the Magic Cape, and the Cane of Byrna could then protect Link for the return trip.
Other Appearances
Video Games
- The Cane of Byrna appeared in Soulcalibur II as an bonus weapon, where it was a weaker alternative to one of Link's swords. The cane's special properties include health recovery during a Soul Charge and temporary decreasing of damage received.
Trivia
- The cane seems to be part of a set which also includes the Cane of Somaria and the Cane of Pacci.
- A Link to the Past also contains a similar item called the Magic Cape. The main difference is that the Magic Cape renders Link invisible and allows him to walk through objects, while the Cane's field instead damages opponents. The Magic Cape also consumes much more magic power.
