Booster was a reclusive and eccentric beared man who lived in his own tower near Moleville, and was an antagonist on the third continent explored in Super Mario RPG.
Background
Booster was the seventh in the line of Boosters. His main companions were a trio of Snifits, known only as Snifits 1-3. Booster was also known for his love of trains, toys and beetles. He often took the snifits out to catch beetles. But all that changed one day when Princess Peach fell from the sky and onto his balcony. Despite Peach's protests, Booster fell in love with Peach and began preparing their marriage while forcing Peach to stay on his balcony. In the meantime he had to learn from Snifits about the concept of a party.
Mario eventually came looking for the princess. Booster attempted to destroy the plumber after learning he was trying to take the princess away from him. At one point Booster had his Snifits search around his room for a missing Mario doll (to use in a reinactment of their wedding), unaware that the real Mario was hiding in the curtains. If Booster's Snifits opened the curtains, Booster would engage Mario in battle. Otherwise, Mario would be discovered when Booster aided the Snifits in their search, and at that moment his jump would reveal the hiding place of the Mario doll, causing Booster to thank Mario rather than attack him. In the latter scenario Booster would also reward Mario with an Amulet.
Booster managed to evade Mario and flee his tower with Peach, leaving Knife Guy and Grate Guy behind to distract Mario. Mario continued to pursue Booster and Peach up an area known as Booster Hill. But Booster managed to stay one step ahead of Mario. He and his Snifits successfully brought Peach to Marrymore and locked themselves in the chapel so that the marriage could be completed. But Mario and his companions made their way in and soon started a fight with Chef Torte and the living cake Bundt. Booster appeared at the end of the battle and finished off what remained of the cake in one gulp. Content with the pastry, Booster decided to let Peach go and return to his castle.
Strangely enough, another woman soon fell from the sky into his lap. This time it was Valentina, whom had attempted to usurp the throne of Nimbus Land. In the ending, Booster and Valentina were seen getting married (although it looked like Booster may have run out and left her at the altar).
Abilities
- HP: 800, Attack: 75, Defense: 55, Magic Attack: 1, Magic Defense: 40
- "This is like realizing you're outside without your clothes on!"
Booster was much more powerful than he looked. This was partly due to his deadly special attacks, which included Loco Attack (which showcased Booster's love of trains) and the Spritz Bomb. Booster could also summon Snifits 1-3 to aid him. Booster had Special Defenses against Sleep, but was weak against Jump attacks.
Trivia
- His Japanese name is Bukkii, which may come from one of several Japanese words- "bukiryo", meaning ugly, "bukiyo", meaning clumsy, or "bukkirabo", meaning blunt.
- Booster bears a strange resemblance to Wario: both are short, dwarfish-looking oddballs with pink noses and mustaches who cover the top of their heads with a cap. In fact, one of Booster's ancestors is seen wearing a yellow cap in a painting.
