Tingle is a recurring character from the Zelda series who made his debut in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask in 2000. He is described as an eccentric 35-year old man obsessed with fairies. Among his special talents are making maps, a trait that has been a part of nearly every game he has been in. His obsession for rupees (as part of his life long wish to become a fairy) often is a source of financial drain for Link in Tingle's appearances.
Though Tingle hasn't made any recent appearance in the series, Tingle received his own spinoff game in 2006. In Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, the origins of Tingle are explored as he is tempted by the unusual Uncle Rupee to become a 'Tingle' and collect thousands of Rupees in order to get access to Rupeeland. With the protection of his Bodyguards and the help of various Characters he meets, Tingle goes on a quest to various islands to earn every last Rupee he can, unaware of what the real Rupeeland is like.
