Shigesato Itoi is the game designer behind the Earthbound series as well as a bass fishing game. His main work is copywriting. He has also been a voice actor for several animes and a judge on Iron Chef.
Biography[edit]
Itoi was born in 1948 in the Gunma Prefecture. He graduated from high school where he discovered the Beatles. He was accepted to Hosei University, but left within his first year. He didn't go home because of his parents' divorce, so he worked in Tokyo.
Itoi took a night course in copywriting. Three weeks later, he was an assistant at an advertising production company. After five years, he won an award for the best new copywriter. He quit his job and started his own company, Hobonichi.
Itoi first met Satoru Iwata when Iwata helped start Hobonichi. Through his connection with Iwata, Itoi was able to create games.

- Shigesato Itoi is a big fan of the Beatles. He identifies with John Lennon because they both came from broken homes. In fact, he named Mother after the John Lennon song.
