Draygon is the boss monster of Maridia appearing in Super Metroid and is one of the game's four main bosses.

Information[edit]

The Draygon was a gargantuan reptilian creature known as an Evir. It thus had an insect-like appearance with six limbs and a barbed tail, and it could float in the air. The Draygon was the mother of at least some of the Evirs found in Maridia, particularly the ones that appear in the boss room.

When Samus entered the Draygon's lair, she at first encountered the Evir children, who could not be harmed. After they passed through, Dragon (possibly motivated by a maternal instinct to protect her young), swooped down to attack. There were also various lasers aiding Draygon's attacks. Draygon primarily attacks by swooping quickly across the room in an attempt to attack Samus with its tail. Some times, it would instead move slowly across the room while spitting webs. If Samus was caught in a web, the Draygon would then grab her and repeatedly attack her with its tail until she broke free.

The Draygon's main weak point was its stomach (although one alternate method involved firing a Grapple Beam at the sparking remains of a turret while Draygon was holding Samus, which would deal massive amounts of damage to both of them). After being defeated, Draygon began to explode, but its children appeared to carry it away.

Trivia[edit]

  • Draygon is part of the statue at Tourian, although it is unsure whether or not Draygon was actually allied with the Space Pirates.
