Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time are a pair of Nintendo DS games that act as the second installment of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon subseries, that is known for featuring a darker storyline as well as incorporating nearly all of the fourth generation Pokémon.
Story
The player is suddenly washed up ashore and has been mysteriously turned into a Pokémon after having once been human. The player meets with a partner Pokémon and together they join the Wigglytuff Guild as a new team. However, mysterious problems have arisen throughout the world due to disruptions in time with rogue Pokémon causing trouble, Pokémon being unable to evolve and new Mystery Dungeons appearing. The player's team embarks to solve these problems while learning mysteries of the past and future.
Gameplay
Like the previous game, this game consists of a series of missions. The player can accept a mission, assemble a team of four, and carry out the mission. A successful mission will increase the teams rank as well as earn them a reward. Sometimes, there will be a chance to recruit a new Pokémon to the rescue team.
Additionally, the game adds most of the fourth generation Pokémon and features connection through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection as well as more touch screen interactivity. It also introduced Pokémon eggs into the series.
Connectivity
Like the previous game, the two versions can connect together through the Wonder Mail feature which allows players to trade missions.
Version Differences
Each version of the game has several exclusive Pokémon that can only be obtained in the other version using Wondermail codes.
