Vigoroth is a speedy and energetic monkey-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the middle form of Slakoth's evolutionary line and evolves into Slaking.
Information[edit]
Vigoroth evolves from Slakoth at Level 18. Its heart beats at a tenfold tempo, so it is incapable of standing still for even a minute due to its blood boiling with energy, in contrast to Slakoth and Slowking's easygoing ways. Vigoroth's stress level rises if it is not in constant movement, and too much stress makes it sick. They run through fields and mountains in order to calm themselves by day, and if they fail they will be unable to sleep at night. Most of the time when it tries to sleep, the blood in Vigoroth's veins will grow agitated and compel it to run around the jungle before it can settle down.
Vigoroth are usually always hungry due to all the time that they wind up dedicating to their rampaging, and they cannot stay still even when trying to eat a meal. Perhaps due to their energy, they are sometimes employed as movers (as seen in Emerald). It evolves into Slaking at Level 36.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
Vigoroth normally could be obtained only by evolving a Slakoth. In Pokémon: HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Peak area if enough Forest and Plains objects were present.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, it could only be obtained through evolution. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Endless Level 57, Endless Level 65, Forever Level 1 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the seventh through eleventh floors of Mt. Freeze and the tenth through nineteenth floors of Mt. Faraway, while in Explorers of Time and Darkness it was recruitable at Blizzard Island, Crevice Cave and Mt. Avalanche. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at the Olive Jungle.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Vigoroth appeared in several episode of the Hoenn series as one of Norman's Pokémon. During his gym battle with Ash, the Vigoroth easily beat his Torkoal, but it and Ash's Pikachu then knocked each other. Another episode featured a group of Slakoth that were suffering due to a Snorlax that was eating their fruit. One of the Slakoth eventually evolved into a Vigoroth and defeated the Snorlax, which solved the problem. They have also made other minor appearances.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Vigoroth was also shown as one of Norman's main Pokémon during the Ruby/Sapphire arc.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name is a combination of "vigor" (due to Vigoroth's increased energy) with "sloth".
