The Power Bracelet (sometimes shown as a plural set) is a strength-enhancing bracelet that has become a recurring presence within the The Legend of Zelda series.
Information
The Power Bracelet's exact function depends on the game. In the original Zelda game, it was the most different from later games in that it merely allowed Link to push certain rocks which concealed caves or secret areas such as the warp rooms. In the early handheld Zelda installments, the Power Bracelet is employed as an inventory item that essentially acts as the "carry" button, allowing Link to carry and throw small rocks and jars that he should have already been capable of lifting. Within the 3-D games and other later appearances, Link is automatically capable of carrying basic items, and the Power Bracelet instead acts as an actual strength enhancer, allowing Link to lift large and heavy stones or even trees in Four Swords Adventures.
Power Bracelets have different types of upgrades depending on the game, usually a Level 2 Power Bracelet or the Power Glove in one game. These upgrades allowed Link to lift heavier objects.
Appearances
In The Legend of Zelda, the Power Bracelet was hidden underneath an Armos along Death Mountain near the graveyard. In Link's Awakening, the Power Bracelet was found at the Bottle Grotto, and the upgraded L-2 Power Ring was found at the Face Shrine. In Ocarina of Time, Darunia gives the Goron's Bracelet to Link after hearing Saria's Song. It acted as a strength enhancer solely for Young Link and was primarily used for lifting Bomb Flowers within this game. In Oracle of Ages, it was found at Spirit's Grave, and in Oracle of Seasons it could be found at the Snake's Remains.
In The Wind Waker, a pair of Power Bracelets were found at Fire Mountain, which could only be accessed using the Ice Arrows, and they were automatically equipped. In Four Swords Adventures, the Power Bracelet was an item that could be found and automatically equipped in various areas of the game, but they could only be kept for the duration of the level. In The Minish Cap, a pair of Power Bracelets could be obtained beneath Hyrule Town while in Minish form.
Other Appearances
Other Media
- It made an appearance as the Magic Bracelet in the Zelda cartoon series, where it empowered Link with super strength.
Trivia
- The only games to feature a pair of Power Bracelets rather than just one are The Wind Waker and The Minish Cap.
- Although the Power Glove was shown as an upgraded version of the bracelet in Oracle of Ages (and before that the gauntlets from were the upgrade for the Goron's Bracelet in Ocarina of Time), in other games the Power Glove is used as a replacement for the Power Bracelet.
