Crawdaunt is a violent crayfish-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the evolved form of Corphish.

Information[edit]

It evolves from Crawdaunt at Level 30. Crawdaunt is a brutish Pokémon with a very violent nature that compels it to challenge other living things to battles. They crash themselves into any foes that approach their nests, and they have been known to use their claws to toss other Pokémon out of the same pond. A veteran Crawdaunt that has endured many battles usually has scars across its shell. Other creatures usually refuse to live near Crawdaunt, which makes the ponds they live in into desolate places.

A Crawdaunt molts its shell regularly, which leaves its body soft and tender. They usually hide in their streambed burrows to avoid attacks from their foes while their shells regrow. Crawdaunt loves to flail its giant claws, and it is known as a rough Pokémon to raise because of all this.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

Crawdaunt can usually be obtained only by evolving a Corphish. In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Versions, they could be rarely found while fishing with the Super Rod at Celestic Town.

Other Games[edit]

It could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, Crawdaunt was found at Secret Storage 8, Endless Level 13, Forever Level 13 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at the Waterworks. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at Lake Afar.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Crawdaunt were shown belonging to various members of Team Aqua during the Hoenn series such as Shelly. There was also one episode featuring a character named Mr. Saridakis who secretly used his Crawdaunt to terrorize a lake due to his determination to buy the lake and build an amusement park there. The Crawdaunt clashed with Ash's Corphish, winning the first time but starting to lose the second match until Team Rocket intervened. The battle ended due to Saridakis's epiphany with Corphish being considered the victor.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Crawdaunt was featured in a chapter of the Ruby/Sapphire arc where it attacked Mr. Briney and broke his Wingull's break. Ruby was able to defeat it with ease using his Skitty while trying to hide his power.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a play on "crawfish" (a name for a crayfish, which it resembles) with "daunt" (which means to make one lose courage, reflecting its intimidating nature).
