Lileep is a fossil Pokémon with plant-like attributes that was introduced in the third generation games. It is revived from the Root Fossil, and its alternative is Anorith. Lileep's own evolved form is Cradily.
Information[edit]
Lileep is an ancient Pokémon that lived on the ocean floor. They have tentacles shaped like flower petals which they used to catch prey after attacking themselves to rocks on the seafloor. While perched on a rock, Lileep scans the area for prey with both eyes. Lileep's swaying tentacles also trick others due to their resemblance to seaweed. It became extinct a hundred million years ago, although like most extinct Pokémon they can be revived scientifically through fossils.
Lileep will evolve into Cradily at Level 40.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In Pokémon: Ruby and Sapphire, the player can find a Root Fossil and Claw Fossil at Route 111 and can only pick one, with the other sinking into the quicksand. In Emerald, the choice was instead made at the Mirage Tower, and the other fossil could be found at the end of the Desert Underpass. In all three versions of this generation, the Root Fossil could be revived at Devon Corporation in Rustboro City. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, all of the fossils from the first three generations had a chance of being found in the Underground, although Root Fossils were more common than Claw Fossils in Pearl. The fossils could be revived at the Oreburgh Mining Museum in Oreburgh City.
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, fossils had a chance of appearing when smashing rocks at the Cliff Cave, although the Root and Claw Fossils only could appear after the National Pokédex was unlocked. They could be revived at Pewter City's museum. In Black and White, the player had a chance of receiving one of the fossils from the first four generations from a minor at Twist Mountain at random on a daily basis, and the fossils were revived at Nacrene Museum.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, Lileep was found at the Ocean on the Ruby Field. In Pokémon Trozei!, it appeared at Endless Level 17, Endless Level 46, Forever Level 7 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the eightieth through eighty-ninth floors of Silver Trench, while in Explorers of Time and Darkness it was recruitable at the Drenched Bluff.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Lileep has only made a minor appearance during the Hoenn series where it was shown at the Island of Fossil Pokémon.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, one chapter of the Ruby/Sapphire arc featured Ruby taking down a Lileep and Anorith that had broken free at Professor Cozmo's lab, but doing so discreetly in order to hide his skill.
