Super Smash Bros. Melee is a fighting game that was first released for the Nintendo Gamecube in November 2001. It is second installment of the Super Smash Bros. series following the original Smash Bros. which was released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. This game retains the premise of pitting characters from various Nintendo games against each other while refining the unique gameplay style.

Melee is a heavy expansion in that it adds 14 characters from several for a total of 26 playable characters. There are also a variety of new single and multiplayer modes, including Adventure Mode (which has more platforming) and the hidden All-Star Mode. There are also over 200 trophies that could be collected throughout the game which reflect various Nintendo properties.
