Debut The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The Ordona Province is one of the provinces of Hyrule that was established in Twilight Princess.

Information

Ordona is Hyrule's rural province. It is the south-most area of Twilight Princess and is located just south of Faron Province. The only inhabitted area is Ordon Village, which is home to mostly farmers and their children. The village's mayor was Bo, although the villagers were known to look up to Rusl instead. There is also a ranch located adjacent where goats are raised, and their milk is mde into goat cheese. The village's other main product is Ordon pumpkins. The village is located just outside the Ordon Woods, which is a small forest that primarily connects to the Faron Woods. It does contain the Ordon Spring, where the province's local light spirit, Ordona, resides.

It is one of the four provinces and has a matching light spirit, yet Ordona is somewhat detached from the other provinces. Ordona seems to be considered a neighboring province of Hyrule, rather than being one of the kingdom's actual provinces. Additionally, only the three other light spirits were involved in the battle against the interlopers in the backstory of Twilight Princess.

During Twilight Princess, Rusl prepared a sword and shield as an offering for Hyrule and decided that Link, who was a ranch hand at the time, would deliver it. Around that time, the Faron Province had fallen to the twilight, and Ordona was to be next. This was preceded by a quick attack from a group of Bulblins commanded by King Bulblin in which all of Ordon Village's children were kidnapped. The exception was Link, who was turned into a wolf after being pulled into the Twilight Realm, and one segment forces him to sneak around Ordon Village in this form to steal a sword and shield from the frightened villagers. Link managed to prevent Ordona from falling to the twilight by destroying the Shadow Beast that tried to take Ordona's light. The light spirit was restored and beckoned Link to purify the Faron Province in order to regain his true form. Ordon Village remained peaceful for the rest of the game, although they were anxious about the children. They were finally returned to the village at the end of the game. Link was shown to return to the village eventually before setting out on some unspecified new journey.

Trivia

  • Ordona is the only province not to be named after one of the Golden Goddesses, which is another factor setting it apart from the other "main" provinces. It is also the only province to not appear in Skyward Sword.
