Mario Pinball Land is a Mario-themed pinball game for the Game Boy Advance.

Story[edit]

While visiting the Fun Fair with Mario, Princess Peach decides to try out an attraction called the Air Cannon. However, the cannon is hijacked by Goombas who make the cannon fire her into Bowser's clutches. Mario sets off to rescue her, but first he uses a Spherasizer to turn himself into a ball.

Gameplay[edit]

The game has five different worlds which Mario can explore in pinball form. The worlds consist of multiple connected screens. Mario must defeat enemies and collect certain amounts of stars to proceed through doors to other areas, following the Super Mario 64 tradition. Mario can also obtain some items and power-ups to help, either from Question Mark Blocks or from a Toad.

Legacy[edit]

This was notable as the first game that Silverball Studios (then known as Fuse Games) made for Nintendo, and they would go on to make other, primarily pinball-themed properties such as Metroid Prime Pinball and Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon.

Ports/Remakes[edit]

  • Ten years after it was released, Mario Pinball Land was released for purchase as a downloadable game for the Wii U as part of the Wii U Virtual Console.
