EAD Tokyo was a division of Nintendo EAD set up in Tokyo in order to attract the local talent. The studio's first game, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat won a number of awards for being most innovative, and they were also well known for working on the Super Mario Galaxy games. A second group was created for this division in 2007.
In 2015, it (along with the rest of EAD) was merged with Nintendo SPD (Software Planning and Development) to become a new division known as Nintendo EPD (Entertainment Planning and Development).
