The Bulblin is a type of goblin-like monster that was featured as the primary enemy foot soldier in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Information[edit]
Bulblins usually have dark green skin with long arms and a hunched over back as well as a pair of horns. They were roguish clothing and carry two primary weapons, clubs and a bow with a quiver of arrows. Bulblins will use one of the two weapons. When firing a bow, a Bulblin will usually shoot flaming arrows or Bomb Arrows in some cases. Most Bulbins are somewhat weak, despite the fights they try to put up. They will often attack by riding on the backs of the boar-like Bullbos, which typically fit two Bulblins. These monsters have been known to fight under the command of King Bulblin, who simply states that he fights for "the strongest". However, other Bulblins have been described as "leaderless" and compared to hyenas in the way that they pillage lands.
Appearances[edit]
Bulblins originally appeared in Twilight Princess as common enemies appearing throughout Hyrule Field and most other areas, including dungeons, and they were the main foot soldiers of Zant within the world of light. They were shown to have a base camp set up at the Gerudo Desert, and a group of seemingly independent Bulblins also occupied the Hidden Village until driven out by Link. There was also a Twilit version found within the twilight-stricken areas which had gray armor-like bodies. By the end of the game, King Bulblin's allegiance had changed due to his defeat at Link's hands, and he was shown to roam Hyrule Field freely with a group of Bulblins in the aftermath.
They were also present at the second Hyrule of Spirit Tracks. They appeared at several areas in the Forest and Snow Realms, where they tried to attack the Spirit Train while riding on Bullbos. The Bulbin will either have the Bullbo charge at Link or merely try attacking with flaming arrows. They could be destroyed by cannon fire.
Other Appearances[edit]
Video Games[edit]
- In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a Bulblin could sometimes appear following King Bulblin when he periodically appeared on the Bridge of Eldin stage. It could be knocked off the stage by hitting it several times. Its appearance was accompanied by a trophy.
- In Hyrule Warriors, Bulblins appear as common enemy foot soldiers. Their units are usually led by Bulblin Captains, who resemble King Bulblin.
Trivia[edit]
- The Bulblin is fairly similar to the Bokoblin as both seem to fill the position of being a weak foot soldier counterpart to the Moblin for the 3-D games. The two species did share an appearance in Twilight Princess, but the Bokoblins had a relatively minimal presence. Both species seem to wear ornamental skulls.
