Renado is a supporting character from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Background[edit]
Little of his past was revealed, but his lifestyle suggested a past that harkened back to an earlier culture existing in the area. Renado was the shaman-in-residence of Kakariko Village and often acted as their leader in most affairs. His abilities were well-known among the populace of Hyrule. Renado lived in a specially painted adobe hut on the fringe of town, and he appeared to be a revered member of the community. He is a skilled healer who looks after the sick and wounded, and is a spiritual leader in touch with the Spirit Guardian of the town. He also had a child named Luda.
When Link first encountered Renado, he and the rest of the villagers have been turned into spirits by the Twilight, and Renado was harboring all the remaining citizenry and children in his adobe. Regarding the Twilight and the dark shadows that emerge from it, it was Renado who correctly guessed that the monsters might be related to the ancient people who once occupied the land Kakariko was situated upon. Subsequently, when Beth was injured in an attack by the lead Bulblin, Renado and Luda took her in and cared for her in the town inn. Likewise, when Prince Ralis of the Zora collapsed, Link brought him to Renado, who was able to treat him. Finally, when Ilia lost her memory, Renado took her in and studied her condition. Later in the game, he developed a plan to revive her memory using mementos from her past, and he dispatched Link on a search for these items. He was happy to help her, due to being an old friend of Bo.
At one point, the luckless shaman, became the unwilling recipient of affection from Telma, the barkeep from Hyrule Town. In private, he grudgingly conceded to Link that he found her company to be completely intolerable.
