Ralis is a young Zora prince who was featured as a supporting character in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Background[edit]
Ralis was the only son of the Zora royal family living at Zora's Domain. His father had died at some point, but his mother Rutela ruled in his stead. Ralis was a quiet boy who was mostly known for his skill for catching reekfish. The village was later raided by the creatures from the Twilight Realm. Rutela sent Ralis away at this point with a letter to Princess Zelda so that he could be safe and get help for them from Zelda. However, he collapsed in Hyrule Castle Town, seemingly due to dehydration, and he wound up in a severe condition. He was found by Ilia, who tried to find him treatment with Telma's help, but Doctor Borville claimed he did not know how to treat other species. Link was able to escort them to Kakariko Village, where Renado was able to properly treat him.
Ralis spent some time there recovering, grieving and praying by his father's hidden grave in Kakariko's graveyard. His mother's spirit came to him in a vision and told him about Link, and how thankful he should be to him. Ralis also was not ready to return to Zora's Domain yet due to his low self-confidence. Link eventually came to him while he was visiting his father's grave and showed him a sketch of a monster that had caught a reekfish. Ralis decided to let Link have his own coral earring, which had been a present from Rutela, that he could use to catch his own reekfish, Ralis changed his mind at this point and decided to return to Zora's Domain, where he began administrating the other Zoras. It was decided that he would only undergo his coronation ceremony after the crisis of Hyrule was resolved. He was shown being watched over his mother's spirit in the end credits.
