Romani is a supporting character in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. She is the Terminian counterpart of Malon's child self, while her older sister Cremia is the counterpart of Malon's adult self.

Background

Romani was raised on the ranch that was her namesake. After their father died (the mother's fate being unmentioned), Cremia took up the responsibility of watching over Romani and Romani Ranch. Romani tried to do her part, although she was bothered when Cremia would often treat her like a child, as Romani had never been allowed to go to Clock Town for the Carnival of Time. She was aware of Cremia's apparent affections for Kafei and her other troubles. Romani was also the only person who knew about the mysterious ghosts (actually Garo Robes sent by the Gorman Brothers) that attacked the ranch every year before the Carnival of Time and stole their cows. Cremia did not believe these stories, so Romani began training with a crossbow to defend the farm herself.

Eventually she met Link on the first day and taught him Epona's Song, unaware that the horse they had recently brought in was actually Link's missing steed Epona. She nicknamed Link Grasshopper and let him take a training game. If he succeeded, she then asked Link to act as her assistant and help defend the ranch against the "ghosts" that night. If Link failed to show up, failed in driving off the ghosts or did not meet Romani at all duriing the three-day span, she would be abducted along with the cows and turn up back at the ranch later on, being unusually quiet and missing pieces of her memory, especially those pertaining to the ghosts.

However, when Link was successful that night, Romani would reward Link with a bottle of milk and decide to keep the events a secret from her sister to not scare her. Romani was then left to watch the ranch while Cremia went into town. She also invited Link to stay at the ranch as their bodyguard and even offered her bed to him if he had earlier agreed to be her assistant. On the third day, Cremia finally acknowledged Romani as an adult by allowing her to make Chateau Romani, making her her own mask and letting her sleep in Cremia's bed.

• It is possible that her name is a play on "romano", a type of cheese made from milk.
• Romani has a habit of speaking in the third person.
• Romani goes to sleep at 8 PM and wakes up at 6 AM.
• In Breath of the Wild, one part of Central Hyrule is named the Romani Plains in reference to her.
