Dr. Wright is a character who appears as the player's advisor in SimCity and SimCity 64. His character is meant to be a caricature of Will Wright, creator of SimCity, only with green hair.
Background[edit]
Dr. Wright introduces himself in the SimCity manual as your advisor and teacher. Before this, he was a chemist designing experimental hair color formulas, likely resulting in his green hair. Afterwards, he was invited to join the revolutionary new SimCity game team thanks to his expansive field work in Urban Planning, Computer Aided Design, and Nintendo Game Counseling. His first recommendation was to destroy Tokyo a few times before settling in the game and actually building. From that point, he provided the player with invaluable tips on how to run a city, both in-game and in the manual.
He graduated from Mario State University and lived at home with his family in a city that he designed out of an environmentally safe wicker.
Mr. Write and Dr. Left[edit]
A parody character of Dr. Wright appears in the Legend of Zelda series. In these games, his name was first parodied into Mr. Write and later into Dr. Left, a pun based on 'Wright/Write' sounding the same as right.
In Link's Awakening, Mr. Write appeared as a character living on Koholint Island in the Mysterious Woods. Here he was a writer (as per his name) who exchanged letters with Christine, a girl from the Animal Village. Although he received a fancy picture of 'Christine' (that was actually a picture of Princess Peach), in reality she was a talking goat.
Dr. Left appeared in Oracle of Seasons, where he was a biologist from Horon Village. In exchange for lighting the torch in his room, he gave Link the Cuccodex, which started off the game's trading quest. He also passed down knowledge that he learned from his books to Link. In The Minish Cap, Dr. Left was a gruff scholar who specialized in studying Picori, while completely unaware of the fact there were some in his own home. He had an overdue library book, "Legend of the Picori", which Link had to bring back to the library for him.

- Dr. Wright appears in the Super Smash Bros. series as an Assist Trophy starting in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. After being summoned, he will wave his baton and cause a group of skyscrapers to pop out under the players. His appearance is accompanied by a normal trophy in both Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he appeared as an Ace-rank Support Spirit with the effect of enabling a player fighter to start a battle equipped with an Ore Club. When fought in a Spirit battle, Dr. Wright's Spirit would possess a group of four Villagers in a battle where his Assist Trophy periodically appeared.
