Game Boy Wars Advance 1+2 is a compilation game containing the first two Advance Wars games of the Famicom Wars series: Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. The original Japanese release of the first Advance Wars had been canceled in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and that caused the game's sequel to miss its individual release in Japan as well. They ultimately decided to make both games available together in that country as a compilation on one game card.
In April 2014, this compilation was released for download on the Wii U in Japan as part of the Wii U Virtual Console. It was part of the first set of Game Boy Advance games to be made available for the system, and it was released on the same day that the two Advance Wars games were individually released for the American and PAL versions of that Virtual Console. Later on, both of the included games would be remade together for the Nintendo Switch as Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp.
