Excite Truck is a racing game by Monster Games that is a follow up to Excitebike and Excitebike 64, although using trucks instead of bikes. It was one of the launch titles for the Wii.
Gameplay
Excite Truck uses motion sensing technology to make the Wii Remote act as a steering device. Tilting it left or right will make the truck move in that direction. While in midair, the remote can also be turned and tilted to change what direction the car will be facing when it lands. Landing on all four wheels will also give the truck a turbo boost.
Unlike most racing games, getting in first place is not the primary goal of the races. Each course has a certain requisite number of silver stars to earn in order to pass. Stars can be earned by long jumps, running through trees, smashing other trucks, and other stunts. The position the player's truck places at the end of the race will give extra points.
- 1st Place: 50 bonus stars
- 2nd Place: 25 bonus stars
- 3rd Place: 15 bonus stars
- 4th Place: 10 bonus stars
- 5th Place: 5 bonus stars
- 6th Place: No stars awarded
The game features six different locations to race, including China, Scotland, Mexico, Fiji, Finland and Canada. An additional track is available in the Super Cup, the planet Nebula which appears to be entirely crystalline. The game is broken down into several cups that once completed, can be used to unlock Super Excite and Mirror Mode.
The game features a vs. mode (for only two players). Additional trucks and alternate decals can be unlocked by playing through single player mode.
