Pansarus pseudoculii russus
Dwarf Red Bulborb
Type Breadbug
Size 30mm
Debut Pikmin

Breadbugs that mimic bulborbs to avoid predation.

Information

Despite originally being classed as a juvenile red bulborb, they are in fact a species of their own. Even more startling is the fact that they are not a member of the Grub-Dog family but the Breadbug family. Thanks to its mimicry, it escapes most predation by being mistaken for a Red Bulborb. However, the distinctions are notable in that they are not nocturnal like their larger counterparts. Despite this fact, they seem to coexist with Red Bulborb without difficulty, making their mimicry perfect. During the day they stay in small groups or alone and hunt for smaller creatures, often being pikmin. Seeing more than five dwarf red bulborbs is uncommon, but not unheard of.

Unlike the creatures they mimic, they are alert creatures that will attack when they detect prey. Similar to their larger counterparts, they use their large mouths as the main means of attack, though obviously with less success. Although they will easily defeat smaller enemies, they will quickly be taken out by a large quantity of enemies. Their only other means of defense is shaking off the enemy, but even this does little to protect them from harm.

Trivia

  • It takes three pikmin to carry a Dwarf Red Bulborb. They can be turned into four seeds or two pokos.
  • Louie's Cooking Notes: For a blissful bisque, mince the entire beast finely and stir in with heavy cream, artichoke hearts. and a pinch of black pepper. Heat slowly until piping hot. Mmmmm....Rich and creamy!
