Louise is a playable character in Fire Emblem. She was known for her sweet, child-like demeanor, as well as the fierce loyalty she showed to her husband, Pent.

Background[edit]

Louise was a commoner in Etruria (although her distant cousin was Queen Hellene of Bern), and she became strong with a bow. When Louse was 14, she was one of about twenty women gathered by Lord Pent for his potential brides. All the women, most of whom were of noble birth, had to display their skills for Pent first. Most of the other women danced, sang or recited poetry. Louise was not good at any of those arts, so when her turn came she simply swore to Pent that if he chose her, she would use her bow to protect him until life's end. All of the other girls laughed at Louise's declaration and made her feel embarrassed, but Pent was touched by this. He said he had never met such a clear-hearted woman and chose her to be his bride. Eventually Pent and Louse were married, but they had trouble with having children. Pent did bring in a protégé, Erk, whom they treated like their own son. She came to miss him after he began traveling as a mercenary.

During Fire Emblem, Pent and Louise had been invited to Prince Zephiel's coming-of-age ceremony in Bern due to Louise's relation with Queen Hellene. First, they decided to stop in the Nabata Desert so Pent could look for a magical artifact. While Pent looked for it, Louise stayed with Pent's old friend, Athos. She was concerned for Athos's health when he would not eat anything during her stay there. However, Athos was amused by her and said he had not laughed so much in years. In "Living Legend" (Eliwood Chapter 22, Hector Chapter 23), Pent returned with Eliwood and his company. Pent and Louise decided to help Eliwood's company find the Shrine of Seals for Eliwood by asking Queen Hellene. They soon spoke to her in "Four-Fanged Offense" (Eliwood Chapter 23, Hector Chapter 24), but they found they would need to retrieve the stolen Fire Emblem before she would tell them the location of the Shine of Seals.

Pent and Louise started fighting alongside Eliwood's group in "Unfufilled Heart" (Eliwood Chapter 24, Hector Chapter 26). They continued traveling with the group until the journey's end. By that time, Louise had found she was pregnant, and she told Pent during the final battle. Not long afterwards, Louise gave birth to their first son Klein, and they later also had a daughter, Clarine. During the events of Fuuin no Tsurugi, Pent and Louise were still alive and living in their mansion. Despite the coup d'etat in Etruria, the two did not seem to be concerned in their usual laid-back manner.

Support Conversation Summaries[edit]

Louise is capable of having Support conversations with seven other characters. Louise is automatically at A Rank Support with Pent, so she is only capable of having up to two conversations with other characters. Even though they are already at A Rank, Pent and Louise can have special conversations together in three certain chapters of the game ("The Cogs of Fate", "Victory or Death" and "Final Chapter: Light:) which function as their Support conversations.

  • Erk- Louise is glad to see Erk again but disappointed that he is always distancing himself from them. She said that he and Pent loved him like a son, but he spurred them and thought of them as strangers. But Erk explained that his behavior was only because Pent and Louise's love for him was so strong that it sometimes scared and paralyzed him. Erk then admits that both of them are precious to him.
  • Guy- Guy meets with Louise when she is assigned to fight by his side. At first Guy is somewhat startled when Louise does something behind him, and he finds she was fixing his hair. In the second conversation, Guy and Louise talk about Sacae, and Guy tells her why he left home. Louise asks him if he misses his family, but he dismisses the question by saying he is a proud warrior of the Sacae and will not return home until he becomes a great knight. Louise asks Guy what his mother was like, and she says that she must have been a fine woman to have raised such a fine son as Guy. She says that if she and Pent could have children, they would love to have a son like Guy. Louise then gets Guy to admit that he thinks of his mother sometimes.
  • Hawkeye- Louise is out of breath after catching up with Hawkeye and gives him a bow for Igrene. She thinks it must be boring for her to be alone at the village, but Hawkeye says that she has friends there. Louise reminds Hawkeye that she only has one father. Hawkeye later gives Louise a necklace that belonged to his wife and tells her to give it to Igrene if he died in battle. Hawkeye says that he feels his time is near and that Igrene must become comfortable with solitude if she is to succeed him as guardian. Hawkeye expresses he has no regrets for having served his master, married a wife, fathered a child and had friends such as Pent and Louise. However, Louise tells him he should return to the desert before then, let his destiny wait and let Igrene see her again.
  • Heath- Heath meets with Louise asks her why someone so young is on the battlefield, but Louise replies that she is old then she looks and is the wife of a lord. Heath then offers his services to her, but she rejects him, saying he is sworn to the service of another and is foolish for thinking that she needs protection just because she is a noblewoman. Heath says that he is a knight and must protect women and nobles whenever he can. Louise apologizes to Heath for what she had said, and says that they are both soldiers in Eliwood's army and thus are partners, so Heath wanting to give Louise special treatment would mean he didn't trust her. Heath assures Louise this is not the case. Louise then leaves when she hears Pent calling her, but she assures Heath that they are now friends and he can call her Louise instead of "milady".
  • Pent- In the first conversation, Pent and Louise see the Shrine of Seals, and Pent thinks they should return to the Etrurian palace with a full report. But they decide to travel with Eliwood's company for at least a little while longer. Pent apologizes for putting Louise in awkward positions, but Louise insisted that she wanted to be there with him. In the second conversation, Louise speaks of how she believed Athos's health was declining and how he refused to partake in her meals. She then says Pent is similar in how he locks himself away for days without eating or sleeping, but Pent promises to amend his bad habits after the journey. In the final conversation, Pent talks about the looming battle with the dragon and how it will be different from anything they've encountered before. Pent assures that he will protect Louise. Louise in turn assures that she will protect him and the child inside of her, revealing to Pent that she is pregnant.
  • Rebecca- In the first conversation, Rebecca meets with Louise, who is glad to meet a fellow archer. Rebecca fumbles in her speech while talking with Louise, so she asks Louise to teach her how to be a proper lady. In the second conversation, Rebecca says that she wants these lessons, because she has a crush on a guy and does not want him to see her as just an uncultured country girl. But then Louise tells Rebecca the story of how she met her husband, Lord Pent, and tells her that she should show her true heart to her love instead of doubting herself.
  • Sain- Sain attempts to hit on Louise, only to find out she is already married to Pent. He scolds himself and says goodbye to Louise in a melodramatic fashion, while pleading with Louise to remember him forever.
