Pokémon: Black Version 2 and Pokémon: White Version 2 are a pair of monster-collecting handheld RPGs that were released for the Nintendo DS in 2012. They act as direct sequels to the original Pokémon: Black and White Versions, which is a first in a series which usually features different versions of a generation's games rather than direct sequels. These games are the last games of the Pokémon series' fifth generation as well as the last Pokémon games released for the Nintendo DS.
Story[edit]
It has been two years since the events of the original Black/White. A new trainer from Aspertia City sets out on a Pokémon journey across Unova, seeking to earn Pokémon badges from eight different gyms and take on the Pokémon League's Elite Four in order to become the Pokémon League Champion. However, the trainer quickly becomes embroiled in the schemes of a newly revived Team Plasma and a mysterious scientist named Colress.
Gameplay[edit]
The basic gameplay, setting and number of Pokémon are retained from Black/White. However, this game introduces some new cities throughout Unova and also features different gyms. These games also include a Pokémon World Tournament (in which the player can play against various trainers from throughout the Pokémon series) and Pokéstar Studios (where players can make films with Pokémon).
These games also include a new feature known as the Unova Link, which can be used to enhance the gameplay. This also includes unlockable Memory Links, which contain scenes depicting events that occurred between Black/White and Black 2/White 2.
Connectivity[edit]
Black 2 and White 2 can primarily connect with each other as well as the original Black and White through the wireless connection or the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for trading and battling.
Legacy[edit]
Sequels[edit]
Pokémon: Black 2 and White 2 have not received any actual sequels. The next main Pokémon games to be released would be the next generation's games, Pokémon: X and Y, which brought the series to the Nintendo 3DS.
