Aran is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

Background

Aran was orphaned as a child and stayed at the orphanage in a Daein cathredal. While there, he formed a close bond with a fellow orphan, Laura and came to consider her as a younger sister. Aran eventually left when he was adopted by Begnion merchants. He later joined the military in Begnion and was a part of the Begnion Occupation Army that occupied Daein. He was posted as a guard at Glaive Prison. He turned a blind eye to the injustices being performed in his birth place initially.

However Aran faced a crisis of conscience when Laura was arrested and sent to the prison in "Chapter 3: A Faint Light" of "Part 1: The Silver-Haired Maiden". This led him to let members of the Dawn Brigade into the prison as he believed that they would rescue her. Aran was later sent outside with a group of other soldiers to prevent the Dawn Patrol from escaping. After talking with Laura, he could no longer ignore Begnion's injustices and switched sides to help the Dawn Patrol in their escape. Afterwards, Laura convinced Aran to remain with the Dawn Patrol by selling them as a band of honorable bandits. Aran fought alongside the Dawn Patrol and Daein Liberation Army in all their following battles except for "Chapter 9: One Survives". He remained in the Daein Royal Army afterwards.

Aran was later among the Daein Army's ranks when they began their attacks on the Laguz Alliance army in "Part 3: Intersecting Vows". In the Base Conversation of "Chapter 13: Blood Contract", he gave Laura a staff that he thought she had dropped, but it turned out not to be her's and to be a Sleep staff, which she accidentally used on Aran.

Following the war, he returned to his hometown and worked as a watchman for many years. The people came to rely on his honest, yet also clumsy, work.
