Buneary is a rabbit-like Pokémon with powerful ears that was introduced in the fourth generation games. Its evolved form is Lopunny.

Information

Buneary usually keeps its ears rolled up and can forcefully extend them to shake boulders. One can tell how it feels by the way its ears are rolled up, and it has both ears rolled up when it is afraid. Buneary also perk up their ears when sensing danger. It sharply uncoils its ears to slam foes, which is enough to make an adult cry with pain. Buneary sleeps with its head tucked into its fur on cold nights.

It evolves into Lopunny when it levels up with a high amount of happiness.

In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Versions, Buneary coould be found somewhat commonly at Eterna Forest. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at Route 25 during swarms. It could also be caught at the Pokéwalker's Rally course, from which it could be transferred to HeartGold/SoulSilver.

Other Games

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness, Buneary could be recruited at the sixth through eleventh floors of Foggy Forest, while in Explorers of Time it could only be recruited following a Wonder Mail mission in which Buneary had to be rescued from the eighth floors of Waterfall Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Vien Forest and School Path. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Mt. Sorbet. In My Pokémon Ranch, Buneary was among the Pokémon that could be obtained in random trades with Hayley, and it could then be transferred to Diamond or Pearl (as well as Platinum in Japan). In Pokémon Rumble, it was found at Windy Prairie. Buneary also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventures at the Meadow Zone as well as at the Meeting Place.

• In the Pokémon anime, Dawn made repeated attempts to capture a Buneary in early episodes of the Sinnoh series and eventually succeeded in catching one which had a crush on Ash's Pikachu. Dawn used Buneay in various contests and even taught it a pair of combination moves - Ice Chandelier, which was used with her Pachirisu , and Flame Ice, which was used with her Cyndaquil. At the end of the Sinnoh series, the Buneary was chosen as a model for Poké Stylist magazine, which influenced Dawn's decision to remain in Sinnoh.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a dancing Buneary was featured in a chapter of the Diamond/Pearl arc, where it attacked Pearl after he tried to be friendly to it and ran into Hearthome City with the group in pursuit. It went into the Contest Hall and turned out to belong to a a trainer who was competing in the Pokémon Contest. It also turned out that the attack Buneary used on Pearl was actually just part of its dance which Pearl disrupted.

• Its name is a play on "bunny" combined with "ear".
• A trophy of Buneary appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
