Debut | Paper Mario |
The Crystal King is the boss of the seventh chapter in Paper Mario and the guardian of the last Star Spirit.
Background[edit]
The guardian of the Star Spirit Kalmar, the Crystal King broke into the sacred Crystal Palace and hid himself behind multiple illusions, traps, and Duplighost servants. Mario made his way to the other end of the palace, where he faced the Crystal King on a snowy precipice.
The Crystal King was ultimately defeated and then begged Bowser's forgiveness. Like the other bosses he reappeared in the ending parade, along with two Duplighosts posing as the Crystal King. He forced the second Duplighost to drop his disguise and was then carried away by his crystal bits.
Abilities[edit]
The Crystal King's most common attack is to break bits off of his (presumed) crystal body and fling them at his enemy. If the Crystal Bits are destroyed before he can throw them, however, he'll waste another turn breaking more off. With an ice beam, a healing spell, and the ability to create duplicates of himself, the Crystal King seems like a threat, but will fall to attrition and his easily predicted attack pattern.
Trivia[edit]
- The easiest way to find the real Crystal King when he creates two fakes is to, naturally, attack them all at once. Since Star Storm does seven damage and you can use it at least three times (if your meter is full), it's the best choice for the situation.
