Custom Robo (known in Japan as Custom Robo: Battle Revolution) is an action game that was released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2004 and the fourth installment of the Custom Robo series. It is the first installment of the series to be released outside of Japan and to receive an official English localization.
Story[edit]
The game's storyline follows the adventure of a hero who is named by the player. The hero's father left years ago, leaving him only with a watch that he was told to never remove. In the present time, the hero finds out through a letter that his father has died and has wishes for him to become a Robo Commander. He sets out and ends up joining the bounty hunter group Steel Hearts after proving himself in preventing a Robo from being stolen. He ends up working with the Robo, Ray 01, and going on adventures which involve meeting the self-guided Robo known as Rahu and investigating a corporation that has to do with the mysteries surrounding his father.
Gameplay[edit]
The core gameplay consists of staging battles between robots in a holographic area known as the Holosseum. Before a battle, the player has the option to customize their robot with different parts that are sorted into five categories. More parts are unlocked by completing battles. In addition to HP, players have an endurance bar; once it is defeated, it will activate "Rebirth", which makes the player's robot rise back up with temporary invincibility. The game will also offer the option of reducing an enemy's health after repeated losses.
The game's main mode is called New Journey and follows the player character through the game's storyline, which involves interactions with a variety of characters. Completing it unlocks The Grand Battle, which consists of a series of tournaments.
Legacy[edit]
Sequels[edit]
The next (and last to date) Custom Robo game would be Custom Robo Arena for the Nintendo DS in 2006/2007.
