Ike is the hero of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, released in 2005. As the main character, he is unique among Fire Emblems heroes as being the first to not begin the game as a Lord. Instead his story begins with him as an apprentice mercenary, progressing to being a member of the Greil Mercenaries, until at last he becomes the leader himself. Inevitably he and his band of mercenaries would play a prominent role after taking a protectorate role of Elincia, the princess of Crimea while also setting out to defeat the mysterious Black Knight.

Following the conclusion of his own adventure, Ike returns in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, now much older and skilled and still leader of the Greil Mercenaries. Once again he plays a pivotal role in the fate of the land, joining up with old allies and new ones alike. In February 2008, Ike will make his Smash debut in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
