General Herman is the commanding officer of the Western Frontier. He's a hotheaded general that makes his original debut in Battalion Wars as he and his fellow commanders take on Tsar Gorgi after he starts up a new war. Though the Frontier totters on the edge of victory over their old foes, the arrival of Kaiser Vlad and his Xylvanian forces means the two countries have to work together to repel the threat.

Herman appears again in Battalion Wars II for the Nintendo Wii. While vacationing in the Sol Empire ,a surprise attack sends them back on the war front. In a special twist, Herman is not playable in the regular missions. Instead he is playable in a series of flashback missions that take place thirty years before the main series, as he recounts the story of the Frontier's earlier war. Herman is known for being a big bundle of anger and his brash nature in wartime has resulted in several tanks to be named after him.
