Golduck is the evolved form of Psyduck that was introduced in the first generation Pokémon games.
Information[edit]
Golduck evolves from Psyduck at Level 33. Unlike Psyduck, it is tall and blue, and its body has a more humanoid form. It has long and slender limbs that end in flippers, which allow it to swim gracefully in lakes. This leads to it often being confused for the Japanese monster Kappa by some onlookers. It is fond of lakes and slow-moving rivers, and it appears by waterways at dusk. Its webbed flippers and streamlined bodies allow it to move at frightening speeds, and it is considered the best swimmer among Pokémon. They can even outswim human swimming champions and will often join competitive swimmers in training.
Their use of psychic powers is usually signified by their forehead glowing mysteriously. It also glows when Golduck is swimming at high speeds. Golduck can swim effortlessly in a stormy sea, and because of this Golduck have been known to rescue people stranded out at sea after shipwrecks.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In Pokémon: Red, Blue and FireRed, Golduck could rarely be found at Seafoam Islands, only appearing on land in the first generation. In FireRed it could also be found at Cerulean Cave, Cape Brink and at Berry Forest. It could be found both on land and by surfing in all of these areas, except at Berry Forest where it could only be found by surfing. In Yellow, it could be found by surfing at Route 6.
In Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver, Golduck could be found by surfing at Route 6, Route 35 and Ilex Forest, and on land at Silver Cave (as well as by surfing in Crystal). In HeartGold/SoulSilver, Golduck could also be found by surfing at Cerulean Cave and in the Safari Zone's Wetland and Wasteland areas when certain objects were placed within them.
In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Golduck could be found by surfing at 203, 204, 205, 208, 209, 210, 212, 214, 225, 226, and 230 (where it is instead on land), Twinleaf Town, Eterna City, Oreburgh Gate, Great Marsh, Celestic Town, Ravaged Path, Lake Verity, Lake Acuity, Lake Valor, Resort Area and Sendoff Spring (on land as well as by surfing).

After being purified, this Golduck could be transferred to any of the third generation color versions. Amongst the Pokémon line of e-Reader cards, Golduck only appeared in "GO, Poliwrath!" as a competitor in a race with Poliwrath. In Pokémon Trozei!, Golduck could be found at Secret Storage 11, Trozei Battle and Mr. Who's Den.
Golduck could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, while in Explorers of Time and Darkness they could be recruited at the first twenty floors of Blizzard Cave, the first ten basement floors of Crevice Cave, the first basement floors of Lower Crevice Cave and the first nineteen floors of Mt. Avalanche. They also appeared at Bright Beach in Pokémon Rumble. In PokéPark Wii: PIkachu's Adventure, it appeared at Beach Zone.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
