Persian is the feline Pokémon that evolves from Meowth which was introduced in the first generation Pokémon games.
Information[edit]
Persian evolves from Meowth at Level 28. It is admired by many for its fur and has a gem on its forehead that glows. It has a sophisticated air and has been noted to walk with the grace and elegance of a proud queen. However, Persian are hard to raise because of their fickle meanness. They also have six whiskers on their faces which make them look tough and sense air movements to detect nearby enemies. A Persian becomes powerless if grabbed by the whiskers.
Despite this fanciness, it also has a barbaric side. Persian are able to move without making a sound due to their light muscles, attacking in an instant and tearing apart prey on mere whims. When it raises its tail, it is a sign that it is about to pounce and bite.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In FireRed and LeafGreen, Persian could be rarely found at Bond Bridge, Canyon Entrance, Cape Brink, Five Isle Meadow, Kindle Road, Ruin Valley, Sevault Canyon, Treasure Beach and Water Path. In Silver, Crystal, SoulSilver some Persian could be found on Route 7, but they only appeared at night in Crystal. In SoulSilver, Persian could also be found at Cerulean Cave.
Other Games[edit]
Persian appears in Pokémon Pinball, where it is obtained through evolution. Persian is also featured in Pokémon Puzzle League as one of Giovanni's Pokémon. In Pokémon Trozei!, they appeared at Secret Storage 9 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could only be obtained through evolution, although a non-playable Persian ran the bank. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness had recruitable Persian appear on the first nineteen basement floors of Marine Resort and the first nineteen basement floors of Happy Outlook. In Pokémon Rumble, they were found at Windy Prairie.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime series, Persian is most notably shown as the pet of Giovanni whenever he appears, a position that Team Rocket's Meowth covets. This Persian is never seen in battle, however. One episode pits Meowth up against a Persian that runs a gang of Meowth which he used to belong to, with Team Rocket's Meowth defeating the Persian in the end.
- Persian is shown in the rosters of several trainers in the Pokémon Adventures manga, such as Super Nerd William and the mysterious Team Rocket operative Sird.
Trivia[edit]
- Persian's name is derived from a type of cat, the persian cat. It may also have been chosen to its sounding similar to the cat noise "purr".
