Tryclyde, also known as Triclyde, is a large, three-headed serpent and a boss from the game Super Mario Bros. 2.

Background[edit]

Little is known of Tryclyde's past, though it is mentioned he was a loner whom Wart allowed to join his forces due to Tryclyde's apparently cunning and evil mind.

Tryclyde would appear as the boss of World 2-3 and World 6-3 in Super Mario Bros. 2 and would attack players by shooting a barrage of fireballs from his multiple heads. Tryclyde could only be injured by players by having Mushroom Blocks thrown at him. After being hit by several Mushroom Blocks, Tryclyde would be defeated.

Other Appearances[edit]

  • Tryclyde was featured as a recurring villain on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, where he was a dim-witted, yet powerful minion of King Koopa.
  • Though Tryclyde never made a direct appearance in any issues of Nintendo Comics System, the comic's "Dear Princess Toadstool (B)" one-shot had him writing to Princess Toadstool, trying, quite unsuccessfully, to get a date with her.

Trivia[edit]

  • Tryclyde's color scheme continually switches throughout his various appearances; in the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Super Mario Bros. 2, Tryclyde was completely red, while in Super Mario All-Stars he was colored green with red stripes. In Super Mario Advance, Tryclyde was made completely blue in color.
  • In Super Mario Advance, Tryclyde only appears once as a boss, being replaced by Mouser as the boss of World 6-3.
