Wario's various forms throughout the series. These range from powerups to simply conditions caused by enemies. From Wario Land 2 through 4, Wario can have several status effects inflicted on him that are sometimes helpful for reaching certain areas, but are otherwise general nuisances in Wario's quest. Wario: Master of Disguise returns Wario to his roots, now possessing a variety of powerups activated by the player.
Arty Wario
Wario will become Arty Wario after Goodstyle draws him a canvas. As Arty Wario, he can't move. However, he can draw a block to stand on or a warp door to return to the previous save point. Failed drawing attempts will result in a small pile of... excrement... walking across the screen, which can damage enemies. After Goodstyle eats the Arty Mastery Gem, Arty Wario can draw up to three blocks at a time, as well as hearts to heal himself. Collecting small orange gems will cause Arty Wario to level up.
Ball o' String Wario
Getting covered in Wormy or spider silk turns Wario into Ball o' String Wario, a rolling yellow yarn ball in 'Wario Land 3'. Ball o' String Wario will roll back and forth across a course, bouncing off walls, until he eventually unravels back into Wario. As Ball o' String Wario, Wario can break through some blocks and walls. This seems to be a combination of Snowman Wario and Flaming Wario.
Bouncy Wario
Getting hit by a hammer in 'Wario Land 2-4' will turn Wario into Bouncy Wario, a springy version of himself used to reach new heights. In all three versions, Wario has a time limit before he will return to normal (hitting a spike will also work). However, in 'Wario Land 2 and 3' pressing A will let Wario jump slightly higher, while in 'Wario Land 4' pressing A will cause Wario to jump up until he hits an obstacle (usually the ceiling), and then return to normal. This is the only transformation used during a final battle, specifically against the Golden Diva in WL4.
Bubble Wario
If Wario runs into a bubble while swimming underwater in 'Wario Land 2-4', he will become trapped inside and float toward the water's surface, only able to move slightly to the left or right. However, Bubble Wario is also able to float against currents. When Bubble Wario reaches the water's surface, or runs into an obstacle along the way, he will be released. This is the only one of Wario's transformations that can be used in conjunction with water.
Bull Wario
Bull Wario is activated by gaining the Bull Horns (Viking Helmet in VB Wario Land). This ability essentially enhances what Wario is good at - tossing his weight around. His charge lasts longer and can break bricks faster. He gains the ability to do the ground pound, and finally the unusual ability to hang in the air by planting his horns on the ceiling.
Bunny Wario
During the final battle in "Super Mario Land 2," Wario will grab a Carrot during the second phase of the fight and sprout bunny ears in the same way that Mario does. The bunny ears allow Wario to float around the room after he has jumped, making it more difficult to land on his head. He loses the bunny ears after taking three hits and moves onto his next form.
Captain Wario
After drawing a stern with Goodstyle, Wario will adopt a pirate hat and a small boat as Captain Wario. Unlike other forms, Captain Wario will float on the surface of water and can paddle through strong currents. After Goodstyle eats the Captain Mastery Gem, Captain Wario can dive underwater with a submarine that also allows him to shoot torpedos at blocks and enemies. Collecting tiny blue gems will cause Captain Wario to level up. In Wario Land: Shake It!, Wario has a few underwater levels where he pilots a 'Subwarine'.
Cosmic Wario
One of Wario's alternate forms in Wario: Master of Disguise. It grants Wario the ability to move around as if in low gravity (slow jumps), as demonstrated by the space suit he wears. He also gains a laser he can use to attack or cut through ropes. The ability is activated by drawing a space helmet on Wario's head. After Goodstyle eats the Cosmic Mastery Gem, Cosmic Wario's lasers will bounce off of objects up to three times. Collecting tiny silver gems will cause Cosmic Wario to level up.
Crazy Wario
When Wario gets hit by a ball thrown by a penguin in 'Wario Land 2', he becomes Crazy Wario. While it is hard to control Wario, he can burp at enemies to defeat them. Falling into water or being damaged will cure him. Crazy Wario also appears in 'Wario Land 3' if Wario is hit by a certain enemy, though he can no longer burp. In this case, it is a complete inconvenience...
Dragon Wario
In Wario Land, this ability is activated using the Dragon Hat. It grants Wario the ability to shoot out a flame in front of him that will damage or kill most enemies. The fire will also break through barriers in the same way that Bull Wario's charge attack does. It also has a limited amount of attack underwater. In Wario: Master of Disguise, it is activated by drawing a tail on Wario's backside. He is heavier in this form and will fall through thin floors. After getting the Dragon Mastery Gem, Dragon Wario is able to breathe blue fire and destroy more blocks than before. Collecting tiny red gems will cause Dragon Wario to level up.
King Dragon Wario
The ultimate form in Virtual Boy Wario Land is only obtained after Wario has gained both the Eagle Statue and Dragon Crystal within the same level. This form shoots out fire blasts (rather than a continuous stream) and also has the ability to fly.
Sea Dragon Wario
A powerup gained when Wario comes in contact with the Dragon Crystal. This powerup is effectively identical to Dragon Wario from the previous Wario Land game. With it he can breath a continuous stream of fire to break down different blocks. When combined with the Eagle Statue, Wario can unlock the King Dragon Wario form.
Eagle Wario
A powerup similar to Jet Wario, however it gives Wario the complete ability to fly. Not only can Wario fly while using the powerup, he can also use his usual dash attack even in midair. This ability can only be gained by using the Eagle Statue. When combined with the Dragon Crystal, Wario becomes King Dragon Wario.
Electric Wario
If Wario is hit by a certain bug's spit, he will temporarily become Electric Wario in 'Wario Land 3'. Electric Wario instantly falls to the ground, bounces a bit, and stands there shocked before regaining his composure. Electric Wario isn't really useful for anything, except that enemies will be destroyed if they run into him while he's charged.
Fat Wario
Pigging out (more than usual, anyway) on stuff like cake, doughnuts, and apples will turn Wario into Fat Wario in 'Wario Land 2-4'. As Fat Wario, Wario throws his weight around to defeat any enemy just by touching it and break through especially hard blocks. However, he is forced to plod along at a snail's pace and can barely jump at all. Constant walking or falling into water will relieve Wario of his girth.
Fire Wario
During the final battle in "Super Mario Land 2," Wario will grab a Fire Flower during the third phase of the fight. As with Mario, the Fire Flower allows Wario to throw fireballs; these fireballs are the same as Mario's. After taking three hits in this form, Wario is finally defeated.
Flaming Wario (aka Hot Wario)
A somewhat uncontrollable transformation in 'Wario Land 2-4', Flaming Wario starts with his pants caught on fire, in which he runs back and forth across an area and can only jump. The flames eventually spread across Wario's entire body, so that he can no longer jump but can control where he's going. While on fire, Wario can light torches and destroy certain blocks. Jumping into water can cure Wario, or just waiting until he burns himself out.
Flat Wario
Often unavoidable, the falling weights in 'Wario Land 2-4' can squash Wario into a pancake, forcing him to waddle along the ground and shorten his jump. On the bright side, he can slip through passages he would normally have to crawl though and drift through the air, making it easier (or possible) to reach some hidden areas. Getting wet will return Wario to his normal shape, as will certain enemies and machines.
Frozen Wario (aka Ice Skatin' Wario)
If Wario comes into contact with the breath of a snowman, blue bear, or yeti, he is frozen solid and sent skidding backwards along the ground until he runs into a wall. Though it is usually an inconvenience, Frozen Wario can be used to slide past spikes or other obstacles.
Genius Wario
Genius Wario comes to be after Goodstyle has drawn Wario a magnifying glass. As Genius Wario, Wario can see and interact with invisible objects, and also see through illusionary walls. After Goodstyle eats the Genius Mastery Gem, Genius Wario can use a punching glove to attack enemies or break through certain blocks. Collecting tiny green gems will cause Genius Wario to level up.
Invisible Wario
After getting covered in a potion thrown by Mad Scienstein in 'Wario Land 3', Wario becomes invisible, even to the player. The occasional flicker and clouds of dust are the only sign of his location. While invisible, Wario can sneak past watching eyes that will close doors if he tries to pass through otherwise. Getting damaged or passing through a pipe will return Invisible Wario to normal.
Jet Wario
A powerup form gained by using a Jet Pot. When Wario is in this form, he can glide for a short period of time, which is useful for moving over pits or avoiding enemies. If Wario runs into something while in the middle of a glide, it has the same effect as a charge attack.
Puffy Wario
Presumably proof of Wario's allergy to bee stings, Wario's face swells like a balloon when he is stung or shot by certain arrows. As Puffy Wario, Wario will float upwards uncontrollably, though able to control his horizontal movement, and only running into spikes or the ceiling will turn him back to normal. In Wario World, the Winter Windster will puff Wario up when it possesses him, though he looks more like Balloon Mario...
Sparky Wario
Wario will become Sparky Wario if Goodstyle draws a lightning bolt on him. Sparky Wario will automatically light up dark rooms, allowing him to open treasure chests in those rooms. He can brighten a room further by emitting electricity for a short time, also making himself invincible. Sparky Wario can also be used to power machines. After getting the Sparky Mastery Gem, Sparky Wario will shoot orbs of electricity in various directions. Collecting small black gems will cause Sparky Wario to level up.
Snowman Wario
Wario will become Snowman Wario if a snowdrift falls on top of him. As Snowman Wario, Wario can't jump high or walk fast, but he can defeat enemies by running into them. If Snowman Wario steps onto a slope, he will roll into a ball that can break through some blocks and crush enemies. If he runs into a wall, he returns to normal. Snowman Wario still can't break through blocks when he first starts to roll; in some cases you'll need to find a way to give him more momentum first.
Tiny Wario
In 'Wario Land' and 'Wario Land VB', Wario would become tiny when damaged by an enemy. As Tiny Wario, he could no longer use the body slam attack or pick up and throw enemies. Finding any pot would return him to normal size or Power Up, depending on which he grabbed.
Tiny Wario reappears in 'Wario Land 2' as a transformation, caused by the spell-casting Gooms in some levels. While tiny, Wario could jump higher, and would return to normal when damaged or if he fell into water. Tiny Wario also appears with his own character level in Wario Ware: Smooth Moves when a motorcycle build by Penny Crygor turns Wario into hundreds of Tiny Warios.
Thief Wario
The default form used by Wario in Wario: Master of Disguise, also known as the Purple Wind (silent but deadly!) The ability it grants is increased running and jumping speeds, as well as Wario's traditional shoulder dash, and is activated by using the stylus to draw a check mark. It is the source of the rest of Wario's other powerups in the same game. Unlike the other disguises, Thief Wario cannot be upgraded with a Mastery Gem. Collecting small yellow gems will cause Thief Wario to level up.
Wario-Man
Wario's superhero form seen primarily in the WarioWare games. Wario-Man grants him invincibility and increased strength and speed, but is only temporary. Usually it requires a special kind of garlic to activate. He first unleashed the power in WarioWare: Twisted! when, while hanging around Dr. Crygor's lab, he was sucked into the Gravitator. In WarioWare: Touched! Wario-Man is born again when a sickly Wario eats some moldy garlic. The transformation also appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl when Wario breaks a Smash Ball, which prompts him to eat a clove of garlic and become Wario-Man.
Wicked Wario
Wario will become Wicked Wario after Goodstyle has drawn a wing on his back. As Wicked Wario, Wario can no longer jump, but he can fly upwards if you blow into the microphone, and will drift slowly downward. At first he can only go straight up and down, but after Goodstyle eats the Wicked Mastery Gem, Wicked Wario can be steered left and right. Collecting small pink gems will cause Wicked Wario to level up.
Vampire (Bat) Wario
Wario's most useful transformation, Vampire Wario comes to be if Wario is bitten (well, touched) by a Minicula. In 'Wario Land 3', Vampire Wario can move around and jump normally, though he destroys any enemy by touch. Pressing B will turn him into a vampire bat, which can fly in spurts. In 'Wario Land 4', Wario goes straight to bat form and cannot become the vampire. By touching a garlic clove, falling into water, or moving into a patch of light, Wario will return to normal.
Vampire Wario also appears as the final boss of 'Dr. Mario 64' (granted you didn't lose at any point prior to this match in hard mode or greater), if you chose to play as Dr. Mario, when Wario eats the Megavitamins and transforms into him. Defeating him in one battle will make Vampire Wario a selectable character.
Zombie Wario
Wario's most grotesque transformation, Zombie Wario is the result of being touched by a ghost, bitten by a zombie, or spit at by a skeleton in 'Wario Land 2-4'. As a zombie, Wario is impervious to damage, can defeat enemies by touch, and can fall through thin floors. However, he also moves slowly and can barely jump. To return to normal, Zombie Wario can fall into water or walk into a patch of light. In Wario Land 4, certain enemies can only be damaged if Wario is a zombie.
