A brilliant, but somewhat crazy scientist prone to self-experimentation. Dr. Crygor is a recurring character from the WarioWare games. He makes his home in Diamond City and has known Wario for some time, having been the one to design the Wario Car, and he also designed the taxi car Dribble and Spitz uses. Thanks to his experimentations, half of his head is metal-plated. He has also lived to be 100 years, despite appearing to only be half that age. He keeps his lab on an island off the Diamond City coast and travels by using the jetpack on his back.

Background[edit]

Dr. Crygor knew himself as a genius scholar, but others apparently have known him as a "dangerous scholar" instead. He inevitably became one of the WarioWare programmers, with his games tending to have a more realistic touch to them. After some failed experiments that took him to the bathroom in the first WarioWare, Inc., he invented the Gravitator that enabled the creation of Wario-Man, Wario's superhero alter ego, in WarioWare: Twisted!, and the karaoke robot 'Mike' in WarioWare: Touched! In that latter game, he also invented a device that made old things 'new' and effectively improved Crygor's own abilities when he used it on himself.

In WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Cygor was revealed to have a granddaughter named Penny. He dueled her in an "Invent-Off" but was defeated. Crygor, Penny and Mike proceeded to dance in the aftermath. Dr. Crygor also had his own area in the game, which could be unlocked by completing the extra stage with Orbulon. In this stage, Crygor and Mike operated the Kelorometer, which employed microgames modified to make the player exercise and lose weight.

In WarioWare: D.I.Y., Dr. Crygor is inspired by a weird dream to make an invention that can almost instantly create microgames, records and black-and-white comics, known as the Super Makermatic 21. He explains it to Wario once Wario comes over to make Crygor fix his broken television, at which point Wario is inspired to use the machine to make money. Crygor's laboratory could eventually be unlocked, where the player could use the invention to make their own microgames, records and comics.

In Game & Wario, he hosts the Design minigame, the scenario for which involves him getting stuck in the toilet and trying to swim his way to freedom through the pipes. Additionally, according to a Mona Superscoop within the game, Crygor was searching for an assistant robot designer, but dismissed Mona's work as "absolute garbage" on her first day, leading her to conclude that he can be difficult to please.

Trivia[edit]

  • His name is based on "cryogenics", which is a type of science based around preserving matter. His Mega Party Game$ bio does describe him as wearing a cryogenic suit, and it may have something to do with his age.
  • In Twisted! his games are gravity-based, whereas his Touched! games are based on making circles with the stylus.
  • He has also apparently created Mona's moped, Jimmy T.'s cell phone and Kat's sword.
  • In his initial appearances, in addition to the one-eyed visor that is in place of his eyes, only the upper-right corner of his face is covered in a metal plate. Starting in Touched! and in all games afterwards, his entire face is covered in the metallic plate. The plates also have color variations over the games. In most games it is gray, but in Touched! and Smooth Moves the plates are red, and the plates have also been yellow for Cygor's stage in Smooth Moves.
  • Outside of science, he is a skilled flamenco dancer.
  • According to Game & Wario trivia, he likes celebrity gossip and prefers two-ply toilet paper.
