Kat and Ana are two sisters that are both ninjas. They appear throughout the WarioWare series with their own sets of microgames.

Background

Kat and Ana were a pair of sisters who seemed to live alone in a forest hamlet away from Diamond City. Kat was the more dominating of the two and tended to wield a large sword in battle, whereas Ana was the more timid of the two and usually wielded shurikens in battle, although she also kept sword. They both attended Diamond City Kindergarten, but it seems that they've also attended Mystical Ninja Elementary. The two were also very much lovers of animals, having four pets altogether: Don the Sparrow, Shadow the Dog, Shuriken the Falcon, and Numchuck the Monkey.

They became developers of Wario Ware, inc. making games mostly based on nature in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!. During their segment in that game, while guarding the castle in Diamond City, Ana was attacked by Bonehead and captured. She was fortunately able to send out a message to Kat, who arrived to rescue her and defeat the samurai bone monster. They also made an appearance in WarioWare: Mega Party Game$!, where they performed in a television show called Super Show and showed off their abilities under the name "Karate".

In WarioWare: Twisted! while on a field trip, Kat upset a group of bees forcing the sisters to hide out in a mysterious cabin guarded by a strange costumed medicine man that they had to fight. In Touched! Ana had a mysterious problem when her bananas were stolen by a monkey. Enlisting the help of Kat, they were able to track down the monkey whom they ended up naming Numchuck and keeping as a pet.

Then in Smooth Moves, they traveled to the Diamond Dojo to protect their sensei once it came under attack from an Elephant Ogre. Kat wound up battling the ogre while Ana entered the dojo to check up on the sensei, ultimately finding him being annoyed by the Li'l Ogre that the larger ogre was actually searching for. The Elephant Ogre left peacefully after being reunited with the Li'l Ogre, although it accidentally took Ana instead due to their similar-looking silhouettes.

They appeared in WarioWare: Snapped!, where they helped to run the Wario Park with Wario, Mona and Jimmy T.. Within WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase, they were featured in their own level called "Kat and Ana's Sky Patrol", wherein the player guided them as they jumped off a cliff and glided with capes similar to those produced by Cape Feathers. In Game & Wario, they hosted a minigame called Patchwork.

• Within the Super Smash Bros. series, they appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U as an Assist Trophy, leaping across the screen in an "x" shape to attack anyone nearby. In the series, they are also represented by a trophy and two stickers (individual stickers of each of them from Touched!) in Brawl, a trophy in the 3DS/Wii U game, a Smash Tour item (which allows players to break their falls automatically) in the Wii U game and a Master Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. When fought in Ultimate, their Spirit possessed a pair of Sheiks in battle. After being defeated, Kat & Ana's Spirit ran a dojo at the adjacent building, where they could teach other Spirits the Ninja Style (which raised the power of throws, grabs and item attacks as well as speed while lowering attack power, special move power, defense and weight).

• Their names are a pun of Katana, a type of Japanese sword.
• According to Kat's profile in Mega Party Game$!, they are descended from the Iga Clan.
• Kat is the 'older' of the twin sisters.
• Kat loves animals, especially turtles, while Ana loves flowers, especially cosmos.
• Kat apparently cuts her own bangs, and Ana doesn't let Kat touch her bangs.
• According to their trophy description in the 3DS/Wii U Super Smash Bros., their katanas are high-tech and were made by Dr. Crygor.
