Balloon Kid is a Game Boy game that acts as a sequel to Balloon Fight.

Story[edit]

Alice and her brother Jim live in the town of Pencilvania. They like to spend their time floating through the sky with their balloons. One day, Jim used all of his balloons to make a rainbow. Unfortunately, a strong gust of wind blew him away. Alice set off to find him using a trail of balloons Jim left.

Gameplay[edit]

Single Player Mode is similar to Balloon Trip in Balloon Fight. The player must dodge obstacles and enemies. The player can also release her balloons to walk on the ground and jump. Once safely landed, the player can reinflate the balloons. To defeat the bosses, the player must pop all their balloons.

In 2 Player Mode, two player's can battle one another, similar to Mode B in Balloon Fight. The second player controls Samm.

The game also contains a Balloon Trip Mode, almost the same as the one found in Balloon Fight.

Legacy[edit]

Ports and Remakes[edit]

  • In 1992, a Famicom version was released as Hello Kitty World by Character Soft in Japan. The graphics and story were changed to fit the Hello Kitty theme.
  • In 2000, a Game Boy Color version was released in Japan as Balloon Fight GB. Unlike Balloon Kid, Balloon Fight GB has battery-backed memory for saving progress, a stage select feature and a Super Game Boy frame. This version was only made available on the Nintendo Power system.
  • In 2011, Balloon Fight GB was rereleased in Japan for download through the 3DS's eShop as part of the 3DS Virtual Console. The original Balloon Kid version was released in America later in 2011 and in Europe in 2012.
