Elysia is a planet allied with the Galactic Federation. It is introduced in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption when it is hit by a Leviathan.
History[edit]
Nearly fifteen hundred years ago, Elysia was colonized by the enigmatic Chozo. The surface of the planet was not suitable for life, so they constructed the technological marvel known as SkyTown. To operate this city they developed the Elysians, a race of sentient mechanoids whom worked closely with the Chozo. From Elysia, the Chozo made observations about the galaxy. At one point a Chozo searcher found satellite data that described a living planet, though there was not enough information to determine anything about it.
Over four hundreds years after their arrival, the Chozo left the plane in the hands of their creations, the Elysians. However after two hundred years, the Elysians ran low on fuel and supplies. Maintenance bots they constructed could not supplement their power consumption, so they placed their selves in hibernation and had their data collection fed to them in the form of dreams.
Eight-hundred and thirty-five years later, Elysia was visited by the Galactic Federation. Although it seemed at first a battle would break out, the Federation issued a message of peace and negotiations were made. A treaty was made and the Elysians received fuel and supplies, in exchange they gave the Federation complete access to the vast amount of information in the SkyTown station.
Eventually the Federation installed Aurora Unit 217 to control activities on SkyTown. This allowed a complete sharing of information and gave the Elysians access to contacting the Federation through 217. Eventually however things took a bad turn when not only was 217 corrupted by a virus, but the Elysians discovered an incoming impact from a Leviathan. They were helpless to alert their Federation allies.
The Leviathan impacted and spread its Phazon on the planet. Soon after Space Pirates arrived to corrupt or wipe out the Elysians. Eventually the entire planet was taken with the corrupted hunter Ghor running most of the operations.
Eventually Samus Aran arrived and was able to restore Aurora Unit 217 and eliminate the Leviathan Core. Although the Phazon was removed from the planet, the fate of the Elysians is unknown.
Geography[edit]
The planet surface is composed of noxious gases. The atmosphere in SkyTown is unsafe for humans, but was tolerable for the original Chozo colonists. SkyTown itself is made up of several floating platforms that interlink by a variety of means, such as Zipline Cables and Morph Ball cannons.
