Treecko is a gecko-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games as one of the three starter Pokémon for Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions. It is the first step in a three-stage evolutionary line, with its evolved forms being Grovyle and Sceptile.

Information

Treecko is a lizard-like Pokémon that is known for being calm, cool and collective. It never panics and will glare back at a larger foe without conceding any ground. They have small hooks on the bottom of their feet for use in scaling walls and ceilings, as well as allowing it to hang from ceilings. It attacks by slamming foes with its thick tail. Its tail can also sense humidity in the air, which Treecko uses to predict the next day's weather.

They make their nests in giant trees in the forest and ferociously guards against anything invading their territory. Treecko are sometimes described as guardians of the forest. It evolves into Grovyle at Level 16.

Mainstream Games

Treecko is one of the three starter Pokémon offered by Professor Birch in the beginning of Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Additionally in HeartGold and SoulSilver, Steven Stone offers the player their choice of the Hoenn starter Pokémon after defeating Red.

Other Games

In Pokémon Channel, Treecko could be found at Camp Starlight on cloudy or clear nights and at Springleaf Field on cloudy days or clear evenings. In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, it was found in the Forest on the Ruby Field. In Pokémon Trozei!, Treecko is found at Secret Storage 18, Endless Level 11, Trozei battle and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams as well as Explorers of Time and Darkness, Treecko is one of the starter Pokémon whom the player could be transformed into at the beginning of the game depending on their personality, and recruitable Treecko could also be found on the first four floors of Joyous Tower in the first games or the first twenty-nine basement floors of Mystery Jungle in the second games.

In Pokémon Ranger, Treecko appears at Olive Jungle. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it is found at Mitonga Road, Forest Temple and Odd Temple. Treecko also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Meadow Zone.

Other Appearances

• In the Pokémon anime, Ash caught a Treecko during the Hoenn series. This Treecko evolved into Grovyle about halfway through the Hoenn League and did not reach its final form in the Battle Frontier series. Treecko have also made several other minor appearances such as appearing at Birch's lab during the beginning of the Hoenn series.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Professor Birch intended to send the Treecko to Emerald as his starter Pokémon during the Ruby/Sapphire arc, but it wound up being lost in a flood and found by Wally instead. It quickly evolves into Grovyle under Wally's tutelage and later finds its way into Emerald's hands by pure chance.
