Slaking is a heavy and powerful yet lazy ape-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the third and final form of Slaking's evolutionary line.
Information[edit]
Slaking evolves from Vigoroth at Level 36. It is the world's most slothful Pokémon and, like its first form, it spends all of its day lazing about. They eat all the grass within their reach, and they only reluctantly move to a new spot when there is no more grass at hand. These areas are distinguished by rings of over a yard in diameter within grassy fields. Groups of Slaking gather around trees when fruits come into season and patiently wait for the fruits to fall from the trees. Despite its appearance, Slaking is actually saving up energy for striking back while it is lounging, and it can exert horrifying power by unleashing all of its pent-up energy at once.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
Slaking has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving a Vigoroth.
Other Games[edit]
Slaking could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Endless Level 62, Forever Level 12, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Ranger, Slaking could be caught outside Jungle Relic. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at Crevice Cave and Mt. Avalanche.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Slaking has been featured as Norman's main Pokémon in several episodes of the Hoenn series, and they also had a cameo appearance in the Sinnoh series. During Ash's gym match with Norman, the Slaking had a close match against Ash's Grovyle but utlimately lost after it used its Overgrow ability. One episode also featured a giant Slaking that actually turned out to be a robot controlled by Team Rocket.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Slaking was also featured as Norman's main Pokémon during the Ruby/Sapphire arc. He used it during his battle with Ruby (and presumably in his offscreen battle with Sapphire later on) and also trained Wally with it by using Skill Swap so that Slaking could temporarily become a dangerously swift competitor with the Own Tempo ability of his Spinda.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name forms a pun on "slacking" and could also mean a combination of "slack" and "king" (due to its position at the top of its evolutionary line) due to Slakoth's own naming scheme.
