Edward was a young member of the [[Dawn Brigade]]. Like the other members, he was a Daein citizen who was against the oppression posed upon Daein by the corrupt Begnion occupational force. Edward seemed to be the youngest of the group, as well as new to fighting. His youth and inexperience made him a reckless fighter. At the same time he had a sunny disposition which made him more likeable with others. In a common ''Fire Emblem'' plot device, he often argues with his friend [[Leonardo]], as Leonardo thinks Edward should be more responsible while Edward thinks Leonardo needs to lighten up.

Background[edit]

Early Years[edit]

Edward was born and raised in the back alleys of Nevassa, although henever saw his parents. His youth and inexperience made him a reckless fighter. At the same time he had a sunny disposition which made him more likeable with others. During the Mad King's War, he was attracted to the Daein Army due to the opportunities it offered to skilled individuals, regardless of class. He began training with a sword for this, only for his dream to be crushed when Daein lost the war. When the Daein Occupational Force began cracking down on the back alleys, Edward was able to use his nimbleness to evade the enemy soldiers constantly. '

He met Leonardo after saving him by chance and taught him about living in Daein's gritty underworld in exchange for Leonardo teaching him basic battle skills. They became fast friends and, in a common Fire Emblem plot device he often argued with Leonardo, as Leonardo thinks Edward should be more responsible while Edward thinks Leonardo needs to lighten up. Soon the two were saved from Begnion soldiers from Nolan, and after meeting with Micaiah and Sothe they formed the Dawn Brigade together. Edward seemed to be the youngest of the group, and the least experienced in fighting techniques.

The Dawn Brigade[edit]

Edward first appeared in "Prologue: Under Gray Skies" (of "Part 1: Silver-Haired Maiden"), when he fought alongside Micaiah against a gang of bandits in Nevassa. However, this gave away their position to the Begnion forces, so the Dawn Brigade then fled from Nevassa in "Chapter 1: Maiden of Miracles". In the Base Conversation of "Chapter 5: The Lost Heir", Edward claimed that his sword-fighting skills were improving and he was confident that he would be invincible by the time they returned to Nevassa and he could take on the Begnion troops singlehandedly. This caused Leonardo to harshly criticize and break down Edward's dream. Luckily Nolan was able to console them by telling them that they could not liberate Daein by themselves, but they could build up their forces and then stand a better chance of saving Daein. He urged Edward not to let go of his hopes and dreams.

After the war ended, Edward remained in the Daein Royal Army. In "Chapter 6: A Reason to Fight" (of "Part 3: Intersecting Vows"), the army was mobilized to battle the Laguz Alliance Army. Micaiah entrusted him with Cadalbog, a sword that was one of Daein's national treasures and given by Pelleas, to use in battle. Edward was determined to use it so well that people will write a song about him. Edward did not know the reasons behind the war, but he trusted Micaiah's judgment and did not think that she would be leading them into if it was not best for Daein. Later on in the base conversation of "Chapter 13: Blood Contract", he and Leonardo complained about the row of wars they've been subjected to that have seemed pointless. Edward cooked up a half-baked plan to stop all wars that involved leaving quitting the army after the next battle and going home so that others would be inspired to follow his example until no soldiers remained. This time Leonardo let Edward have his hope and also gave him a Tempest Blade which would help him to survive the next battle.

Following the battle with Ashera, Edward lived as a common townsman in Daein, against the wishes of Queen Micaiah. He often visited Daein Keep to deliver good news.
