Jake (along with his lover Anna) is a recurring character from the Fire Emblem series who primarily appears as a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi as well as the remake Shadow Dragon. He additionally makes cameo appearances in other Fire Emblem games.

Background

Fire Emblem 1/11

When he first appeared in the Book 1 games, he was a Ballastician forced into fighting for Grust. Jake was not enthusiastic for the battle and did not consider himself cut out for the army. He would only talk to the most beautiful women, although he was loyal to his girlfriend Anna. Jake appears in Chapter 11, where Caeda could convince him to switch sides and fight under the Altean army for Anna's sake. He would also tell Marth about secret shops. At the end of the game, it is said that he helped to rebuild a village ravaged by war and dreamed of visiting distant lands with Anna (which seemed to foreshadow their later appearances).

Fire Emblem 4

Jake also appears in two hidden events of Seisen no Keifu. He and Anna were living in Lenster at the time, and he set out to join the liberation army. In Chapter 8 he could found by waiting at certain spaces with Linda and Amid. In each event, he would talk about getting cold feet about joining the liberation army and being on his way home, Linda or Amid would help him, and then he gave each an amulet which increased their magic defense when seeing them off. He also expressed a desire to have kids like those two with Anna. Strangely enough, he find Linda's name familiar due to Linde from the Shadow Dragon games, which would imply this is the same Jake which is impossible considering that the game is either set one thousand years before Shadow Dragon or in an alternate continuity.

Fire Emblem 7

Jake makes an additional cameo appearance in Fire Emblem as a pirate on Dargus's pirate crew. He appears early in "Pirate Ship" (Eliwood Chapter 17, Hector Chapter 18) only if one of the player's units had spoken to Anna in "The Port Town of Badon" (Eliwood Chapter 16x, Hector Chapter 17X). He introduces himself and after learning that they had heard about him from Anna, his heart is warmed by hearing she was concerned for him. He proceeds to inform Eliwood's group about the merchants aboard the ship.

Trivia

• He. Anna and Aimee are noted as recurring characters appearing in multiple continuities of the Fire Emblem the game, although Anna and Aimee notably make more appearances.
• Jake was removed from the Monshou no Nazo remake, so his status during the events of Book 2 is unknown.
• In Shadow Dragon he receives Support Bonuses from Caeda, Lena, Maria, Minerva and Linde.
