Aimee (Larabel in Shadow Dragon's American release and the Japanese games) is a recurring character from the Fire Emblem series, usually appearing as a shopkeeper.

Background[edit]

Tellius Continuity[edit]

Aimee was part of Muston's traveling convoy of merchants. Among them, she acted as the items vendor. In Path of Radiance, they begin traveling with the Greil Mercenaries in Chapter 8, and Aimee immediately takes a liking to their young new leader Ike.

In a base conversation for Chapter 13, she reveals her intentions to Ike when she recalls how she had warned him of an attacking raven laguz of the previous battle, as well as how awe-inspiring Ike looked when he finished that enemy off. Ike wondered if that was why she often let her hand linger on his when giving him new equipment and let him to consider sending someone else down to get his equipment from then on. Aimee was left wondering if she had been too obvious, but also found his embarrassment to be cute and relentlessly decided not to let him get away.

Later on in a Chapter 23 base conversation, Ike took cover in Soren's tent to hide from Aimee. She was disappointed to find Soren instead and wanted to give Ike a Hammerne staff, but Soren pointed out the uselessness of trying to impress Ike with a staff and suggested several of his favorite dishes. She then let him keep the Hammerne anyway.

Three years later in Radiant Dawn, the convoy was traveling through Daein when Aimee and Ilyana were captured by corrupt officers of the Begnion Occupational Army and held prisoner at Glaive Prison. However, they were freed during the prison break engineered by the Dawn Brigade in Chapter 1-3. They proceeded to protect Aimee and the also-powerless Kurth for the remainder of the chapter, after which they were reunited with the rest of the merchant convoy and began traveling with the Dawn Brigade.

In this game, Aimee also had a twist on her additional role in that during each chapter she would have a different set of exclusive and usually rare items. After parting ways with the Dawn Brigade, Ike called them in to accompany the Laguz Alliance Army in Part 3. She proceeded to resume her hitting on the older-looking Ike, and in Chapter 3-2's "Item Shop" base conversation she offered Ike all her items for free if he told her she was the most beautiful woman in the camp. However, Soren intervened to prevent rumors about Ike and Aimee of them being involved from spreading across Tellius (and Aimee even admitted to intending to exaggerate and spread such rumors) and hurting his reputation. Soren then took his place and successfully sweet-talked her into giving him a Silver Card, which temporarily gave them half off her items.

In Chapter 3-4's base conversation, Shinon sold a Silencer to her shop, and Ike came at the tail end of the deal, when Shinon left in a huff while asking her to give Ike the payment, in the form of a blue jewel. Aimee then gave it to Ike and accidentally betrayed Shinon's intentions by telling Ike about his selfless secret deal as well as accidentally revealing that he was Rolf's tutor. During Part 4, the merchants and split up and each accompanied one of the armies. Aimee traveled with the Greil Army (this time running all parts of the convoy) and in Chapter 4-1 she gave Ike a rare Rexcalibur tome, once more hitting on him. Aimee continued her direct hitting on him, but Ike still denied her. Aimee accepted this for the moment, thinking she was right in understanding that he was still seeing the world and had no time for a relationship yet, but hoped that when he was ready, Ike would choose her to settle down with. Ike tried to tell her that this was not the case, but Aimee believed that Ike was already under her spell.

Minor Appearances[edit]

Aimee appears in Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi, Monshou no Nazo (where she is unnamed) and Shadow Dragon as the shopkeeper.

Trivia[edit]

  • Oddly enough, she was called by her Japanese name of Larabel in Shadow Dragon after the Tellius games had established Aimee as her English name. However, the PAL release of Shadow Dragon still called her Aimee.
  • Along with Anna and Jake, Aimee is known as a recurring character appearing throughout the games despite continuity.
  • Aside from her infatuation with Ike, she also briefly hits on Sothe after meeting him in Radiant Dawn, noting that he grew up to become quite handsome and that she was smitten.
