Kakuna is a cocoon Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation Pokémon games.
Information
At Level 7, Weedle evolves into Kakuna, which is the cocoon phase of this evolutionary line. It is nearly incapable of moving, which leads other to assume it is dead. However, it is actually forming a body instead. It can only move minimally, and its main actions are hardening its shell to protect itself from predators and sticking out its stinger to poison an enemy when endangered. Kakuna often hide themselves under leaves and in the nooks of branches, becoming immobile as it clings to trees.
As it approaches evolution, Kakuna's body softens while its exterior shell hardens. Its shell also becomes hotter as the time approaches. At Level 10, Kakuna finally evolves into its final form, Beedrill.

Crystal | Nearly incapable of movement, it leans against stout trees while waiting for its evolution.
III | Ruby | Kakuna remains virtually immobile as it clings to a tree. However, on the inside, it is extremely busy as it prepares for its coming evolution. This is evident from how hot the shell becomes to the touch.
Sapphire | Kakuna remains virtually immobile as it clings to a tree. However, on the inside, it is extremely busy as it prepares for its coming evolution. This is evident from how hot the shell becomes to the touch.
