Sonia is one of Nergal's closest minions in Fire Emblem and is used to control the Black Fang.
Background
Sonia was one of the morphs created by Nergal, but she somehow came to believe she was a real human and a perfect specimen chosen by Nergal to rule the world alongside him. At one point she accompanied Nergal in an attack on a family of magic wielders who knew the secrets of the dragons. The family was successfully interrogated and killed. However, Nergal decided to keep their two-year old daughter, Nino, seeing potential in her. Sonia reluctantly adopted Nino and raised her as her daughter to fulfill Nergal's bidding. However, Sonia never even showed a hint of love for Nino, despite Nino's various attempts to win her mother's affection.
Twelve years after Nino's adoption, Sonia was sent to take control of the Black Fang, a band of assassins. Nergal wanted control of the organization's top fighters, the Four Fangs. Sonia pretended to fall in love with the Black Fang's leader, Brendan Reed. Brendan had his suspicions (and so did his sons Linus and Lloyd), but he was mostly bought in by Sonia and they were married. Sonia slowly corrupted the Black Fang, replacing various members with Nergal's morphs and other minions. She also brought in her admirer and protégé, Ursula, to become one of the Four Fangs.
One year later, during Fire Emblem, Sonia was first seen in "New Resolve" (Eliwood Chapter 20, Hector Chapter 21), when Nergal ordered Sonia to mobilize the Black Fang in pursuit of Eliwood and his company, and to kill them all. Sonia passed this assignment onto the Four Fangs at the beginning of "Kinship's Bond" (Eliwood Chapter 21, Hector Chapter 22). King Desmond later hired the Black Fang for a job to prevent his son Zephiel from inheriting the throne. This job was important to Nergal, who wanted the king to be in their debt, so Sonia was glad to take on the assignment. Desmond first had them steal the Fire Emblem, which Sonia stored in the Black Fang fortress.
In the next stage of the plan, Desmond wanted them to assassinate Zephiel, and he also wanted a second person to be blamed fo the execution and killed. Sonia sent Nino and Jaffar on the mission, claiming that this was so Nino could prove herself. But she revealed the true mission to Jaffar; after killing Zephiel, Jaffar was to kill Nino as well so that Desmond could have his scapegoat, and she could be free of Nino at the same time. Jaffar seemed oddly hesitant, so Sonia sent Ursula to oversee the assassination.
The assassination wound up being botched. In the sidequest chapter "Night of Farewells" (Eliwood Chapter 26x, Hector Chapter 28x), Jaffar had fled, Ursula had been killed, and the Reed Brothers had gone missing, effectively eliminating the Four Fangs. Sonia no longer needed to feign love for Brendan, so she killed him. Sonia went to the Water Temple to hide, and it is there where Nino and Jaffar found her. Sonia was determined to kill them, but Eliwood and their group arrived in time to stop this. Sonia was mortally wounded in the following battle. She retreated to seek help from Nergal. Limstella found her, but she left Sonia to die and called her nothing more than a worthless puppet lacking quintessence. With Sonia's dying words she attempted to assert that she was a human.
If the above chapter is not played, Sonia returned to Nergal at the beginning of "The Cog of Fate" (Eliwood Chapter 27, Hector Chapter 29). Nergal was angry at her for the failure of the mission given by the king as well as the destruction of the Black Fang. Sonia had plans for a new group to replace the Fang, but Nergal did not want to hear it. Sonia then tried to make up for her failure by giving him Brendan Reed's quintessence. But this plan failed when Nergal noticed she had been wounded by Brendan while killing him. He accused her of being defective and said that Limstella was much superior to Sonia, and then he eliminated Sonia.
