Background[edit]
Myrrh spent her life living with the other Manaketes living in the Darkling Woods. Although she had the appearance of a young girl, she was actually over a thousand years old. Her parents were killed during the war with the Demon King, but Myrrh was taken in and raised by Morva, chief of the Manakete tribe. She came to look up to admire him for his great strength and the protection that he provided her with. Confusingly, the term "Great Dragon" was used to refer to both Morva and Myrrh, but this seems to be due to Myrrh being Morva's adopted daughter and thus his successor.
During The Sacred Stones, Myrrh was sent out with Saleh as an escort after she sensed dark energy (from the sacred stone in which the Demon King had been imprisoned) radiating from Grado. However, they were separated during an enemy attack, in which Myrrh was imprisoned and lost her dragonstone. Without it, she was defenseless. Fortunately for her, she was soon rescued by Ephraim and his group. She repaid them by accompanying them and trying to help them in any way she could, intent on both recovering her dragonstone and finding a way to stop the Demon King. She came to admire Ephraim (and is implied to have deeper feelings for him), but she also lamented that she was little more than a burden to everyone. In Ephraim's path, this led her to sneak away from the group in Chapter 12, and in the following chapter she confronted Selena, whom had discovered her dragonstone. She explained the effects of the Dark Stone to Selena, and as repayment Selena allowed her to return to Ephraim's group alive after explaining her backstory, but Selena refused to return the dragonstone.
After Selena was killed in the following battle, Myrrh was given her dragonstone, but she mourned Selena due to having seen she was a good person and brooded about the nature of war. In Chapter 16: Ruled by Madness, she convinced Ephraim to allow her to enter battle with her dragonstone, and she was available for battle in all of the remaining chapters. However, in Chaper 20: The Darkling Woods, they were forced to kill Morva after he was corrupted by the Demon King, which caused Myrrh further grief. In Ephraim's path, he comforted her and told her that she should not worry about hiding her sorrow when she tried holding back her tears to put on a brave face for him.
Possible Fates[edit]
Myrrh has three different endings, depending on whether or not she has reached an A Rank Support with Ephraim or Saleh.
- Default Ending - She said goodbye to Ephraim and returned to the Darkling Woods, where she lived a long and full life. She was sevred by the people of Castle Pelyn and comforted by the memories of her dear friends.
- Ephraim and Myrrh's Ending - They both went their separate ways and focused on their respective duties, with Myrrh returning to the Darkling Woods and never leaving it again. However, Ephraim did visit her several times.
- Saleh and Myrrh's Ending - She returned to the Darkling Woods, but Saleh convinced her to move to Caer Pelyn. The townsfolk eventually came to see her as a normal girl instead of as the Great Dragon, to Myrrh's relief.
Support Conversation Summaries[edit]
Myrrh is capable of having Support conversations with three other characters:
- Dozla - Myrrh stumbles upon Dozla, who thinks she reminds him of a young L'Arachel and asks her age. She considers this rude and only after Dozla says that he is 47 does she reveal that she is actually over 1200 years old, although Dozla seems to think this is a joke. In the next conversation, Myrrh and Dozla cross paths while they are looking for Ephraim and L'Arachel, respectively. Myrrh suggests they are together because she recalls seeing both of them talking on familiar terms together earlier and getting a funny feeling in her chest. Dozla realizes she is feeling love, but mistakenly thinks that Myrrh is in love with L'Arachel. In the final conversation, Dozla offers to protect Myrrh and she notes he reminds her of his father, which starts to lead her to cry due to his fate. Dozla offers to comfort her by letting her tug on his beard, which cheers her up and she thanks him.
- Ephraim - In the first conversation, Myrrh asks Ephraim if she could call him brother, saying that she had seen the bond between Ephraim and Eirika and wished that she had a brother like him. Ephraim initially denies Myrrh's request but then rescinds this, after she leaves saying that sisters are his weakness and he couldn't say no to her face. In the next conversation, Ephraim and Myrrh initially dispute the proper titles for each other due to their huge age gap, but ultimately Ephraim agrees that they should just call each other Brother and Sister. Myrrh then requests that Ephraim watch over her at night like her father used to, but Ephraim refuses bluntly and says it is not acceptable, but he should try asking Eirika instead, saying that the two of them should be sisters if Ephraim was her brother. In the final conversation, Ephraim asks Myrrh what she will do after the war, and she reveals that she will live in the forest alone. Ephraim is displeased with this and offers her a place in the castle, but she says that maybe she should not due to being a dragon but promises to think it over. She still thanks her "brother" for the offer and says it makes her very happy.
- Saleh - Myrrh shows discomfort with Saleh always being around, and Saleh tells her that looking after the Great Dragon gives his life meaning. She refuses her father's title and says she has done nothing special, but Saleh tells her that mankind has forgotten the sacred debt that they owe the Great Dragon so he must atone for that by looking after her. He offers to leave if she wants, but she allows him to stay. In the next conversation, Myrrh asks Saleh if her father ever visited the village, and he recalls a story Dara told of how the Great Dragon saved the village when she was young. Myrrh is surprised that her father helped them, but at the same time decides that based on her time with Saleh, she could understand why the Great Dragon protected them and that said that she would likely protect humanity as well. In the final conversation, Saleh offers Myrrh to stay at the village for some time. Myrrh agrees with this but says that she cannot stay long because as her father said, being both human and monster, she is at the same time neither as she would never truly fit in with either humans or monsters. Saleh attempts to assure her that she can be accepted, and Myrrh is cheered, saying that she will consider his offer again after the war. She also assures Saleh that because of the time they spent together, she will not consider herself lonely or an outcast after returning to the Darkling Woods.
