Houndoom is an eerie fire-breathing hound-like Pokémon that was introduced in the second generation games. It is the evolved form of Houndour.
Information[edit]
Houndoom evolves from Houndour at Level 24. Like its previous form, Houndoom travel in packs, and the leader is the Houndoom with the horns raked sharply back. They fight amongst themselves in order to choose the leader. Most Pokémon retreat upon hearing Houndoom's eerie howling, and long ago it was believed that Houndoom's howls could summon the grim reaper. Houndoom can breathe out flames which originates from toxins burning within their body. Apparently, those burned by the flames that Houndoom breathes will always feel the pain due to the toxins contained within.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
Houndoom originally could not be found in the wild and was only obtainable through evolving a Houndour. In Pokémon: Pearl Version, Houndoom could be found on Routes 214 and 215 when using the Pokéradar. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Houndoom could appear at the Safari Zone's Plains area when enough Rock objects were placed there.
Other Games[edit]
A Shadow Houndoom could be snagged from Cipher Peon Nella at Realgam Tower in Pokémon Colosseum, and after being purified it could be traded to any of the third generation color versions. In Pokémon Trozei!, it could be found at Endless Level 63, Forever Level 13, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could only be obtained through evolution, while in Explorers of Time and Darkness it could be recruited at the first ten floors of Treeshroud Forest. In Pokémon Ranger, it could be found at the Jungle Relic. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appeared at Oil Field Hideout. Houndoom also appeared in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs at Sky Fortress and Dark Temple.
